Why does my distributor gear look like this ???

My motor was running great and I went ahead and put in my Pete Jackson gear drive. I took the car for a drive to the store and it didnt have any power and felt sluggish so I figured I didnt line up the gears. So when I pulled it apart the gears were lined up right and I saw my msd dist gear looked like this, WTF???

Are you sure you didnt have to upgrade to a stronger Distributer gear?

I had that gear in there since I put the Dist in there like 2 years ago. The motor was running great. I'v heard of people having problems with gear drives walking the cam and such ?
