I bought a supercharger kit used over the summer that came with a Greddy Blow off valve. Sounds REAL good being vented to the atmosphere when the thing blows off. Everytime i downshift to about 3K rpm, it sounds like a REALLLLLLY loud turbocharged car and everyone in the world in the streets stare at ya and drop their jaws! My question is. Why do people run bypass valves and run them back into the inlet rather then running an open blow off valve?

Someone said that it F's with the mass air reading but i dont see how thats true being that the air is being let out UPSTREAM the mass air meter sooo the air being let out is already metered. I think one person on here runs an HKS blowoff valve with mass air and said that he didnt notice anything wrong with his meter or anything?

thanks, just curious

OK here we go, one last time...You meter reads xx amount cfm of air per .000 sec...per say... so it compensates and adds xx amount of fuel for that given RPM to match the air intake...Now if you have that fuel going into your combustion camber, but LESS to NO air becuase for that split second, you just vernted it completely out of your intake tract into the atmosphere...and your motor goes extremely RICH for just .001 of a second. Does it hurt the motor...maybe not, but it does rob power, because your not getting optimum combustion. Make sense........

If you want to vent your BOV into the atmosphere properly, you need a BLOWTHROUGH mass air meter..

air that has passed through the MAF is meter'd air...when that disapears, the ecu doesnt know where it went...hence the possible trouble. Then Ecu see's the air comming in, and the air going out...if its lost somewhere between, usualy it cant cope.

He wants to vent it to the atmostphere cuz he is a ricer, so yes, youll need a blowthrough maf upstream of your blower.

I was under the impression he was speaking of the type of MAF used when setting up a Vortech the way it was intended.

Ive been there done that blow off valve thing and this was way before it was the kool thing to do and Im over it. Now Im going a new direction with this car. No ricey ughh sorry racey stuff for me. When I smoke someone my car sounds like an all motor car. My blower is so quiet and of course there is dead silence when I shift. I love it. Ill spend my money on performance and making my car faster. Im not worried about that gimecky stuff.

honestly how do you think a BOV is rice?? because its loud???

thats like saying an S trim blower is too ricey because it makes alot of noise and a quiet blower is not rice.. Just because i want a loud blowoff/bypass valve makes it rice?? give me a damn break

Neons, turbo wing, 5 inch cowl, two tone paint, slicks and skinnies, under pressure banner....all backed up by a bone stock 302 with 5psi...you want the BOV cuz it sounds badass.....it sounds like you have something underneath that 5inch cowl hood besides hot air..... ....Ricer mentality
