Yeah i noticed that a lot of people dont like the stangs. Part of the reason is that our cars come underpowered for an 8 cylinder. When they come out with 4 cyl. cars that are as fast or faster than us it kinda make it seem like our cars are obsolete, but when we mod them they get scarred. Like the other day there was this mark viii that was calling out all bolton gt's on CA FORDS, then he goes back to his mark viii forum and everyone talks ****, saying i bet that muscle car was surprised at the potential of a mark vii. Mist mustang guys i have seen all stick together ad have some respect for one another on the street. most everyone else doesnt have respect for anything, they see us as their enemies.

I was talking with some F Body guys and i asked them why its always chevy vs ford, i said shouldnt it be domestic vs imports? they said its gm vs ford then us vs them. True car guys dont discriminate, but there are very few

There are to many cocky Mustang drivers.

There are to many Mustangs in general.

There are to many ragged out beater Mustangs.

Plus, there are SOOO many more V6s than V8s. I went to the local Ford dealership the other day, 28 Mustangs, 25 were V6's, the other 3 were GT's.

Everybody gets so used to seeing a ragged out beater V6 with a punk trying to hotrod it. (At least around here) Everybody forgets what a Mustang is all about. Plus, a lotta them are jealous.

Keep this thread going, this is interesting.

Lately, I've been noticing a lot more respect and admiration for Stangs in general around me. Kind of funny considering the "Chevy rules" attitude that was all over the place a few years ago. It also helps, that the ricer fad isn't ALL that big here. There's plenty of them, but not as many as you see elsewhere.

It's pretty funny when someone tells you that they don't usually like Mustangs, but they do like yours.

Well, first off they are more than likley jealous that they don't have a Mustang.

Also, all I ever see are V6 Mustangs, most driven by females (no offense to any females) so many "men" would think that the Mustang is a p---y car.

Then, they get beat by a GT,Cobra,or whatever Mustang and they begin to hate the "p---y" car because it just whooped thier ass.

its really jealousy....and they may race 100 5.0 powered Stangs, and if they beat just 1 of them they will brag that Mustangs suck and are POS's but convieniently forget about the 99 losses they took....you think we have it bad? look at cars like the Viper, or Z06 Vettes....those guys catch the real hatred from the ricers..

Maybe it's because the only Mustang in Fast and the Furious got ran over by a big rig. LOL

I think a lot of people hate on mustangs because we dont put huge 4 ft wings on them and altezza taillights. If we were doing sh** just like them then they would love our cars too. But we dont do all that b.s. to get attention because we dont have to. We get attention just by having mustangs. Jealousy's a mo fo.

See i think we have it worse than they do. Because those guys spent 50k + on their cars where we can spank that ass (ricers i mean not z06's)for under 10K. When they get beat by a z06 they just say yeah but he spent $50,000 on his car. Where when we beat them the cant sh** but mustangs suck.

yeah but they have to deal with all the stereotypes just like us...they get the..stuck up, rich, *******, "making up for something"...stuff like that...when in reality most of the Viper owners i know are some of the most down to earth, real cool guys out there....

Stereotypes are a ******. Im ASIAN, and i drive a mustang. the stereotype that we are all rednecks is ridiculous. lets get real, i have more of a right to drive a Honda than 90% of the Eminem wannabes. Id love to see someone call my Asian dad a redneck while he is cruising in his 03 Cobra bc all he'll do is laugh and light em up. Its true, we own the car that set the bar, no matter what you call it. 5.Slow, 5-slow, or 5.AWESOME AS HELL!.

I'll get in to this mix. I think most "young" men are a victim of their age. I am 34 and when I was growing up we drove twenty/fifteen year old cars. So when I was 16 I had a 69 Pontiac LeMans 350 with a three speed on the column. That thing was super quick, oh you were screwed if you had to stop quickly or make a quick turn, but it was a bullet in a straight line.

Fast forward to young guys now growing up, let's say they were 16 in 1999 or 2002 driving twenty or fifteen year old cars they drove a Chevy Celebrity, remember those road rockets, or some cheap Datsun and yes I said Datsun before they changed their name to Nissan. Those cars were as underpowered as a three legged horse.

I don't think it isn't as much as being disrespectful as they just don't understand what a fast car actually is. Sure you can spend 20,000 grand and put it in a Honda and it will run like a rapped ape but buy a fox body Mustang for 4K and put some elbow grease into and you will have a screamer.

I agree with some of you about jealousy but I think most of them just don't understand the difference between a quick car and a fast car.

It is the benchmark for affordable speed, style, and sound. No realistic car sounds even close to as nice as a Mustang with exhaust.

I hate the NY Yankess and the LA Lakers. This is because thats all you hear about and they get all the glory. Same way with Mustangs. I respect those organizations though because they are well managed (well until recently).

Who cares wtf anyone else thinks? If a person is truly intelligent and knowlegable they will respect the Mustang for it is, and what it always has been - an affordable fun car that has more than decent power, is easily personalized and is built to take lots of abuse.

And if you guys think you got it bad try owing a glorified Honda, the ***** talking never stops. Well until I ask if they wanna race that is.

Its weird down here. Most people down here don't know how to build an import for drag. So they go one of two ways. Do crazy crap to body and interior to make is look Ricey or they get some type of forced induction. Usually on a stock block. I have seen fast rice before even though I hate to say it. I got beat by a 93 turbo LS swapped civic he was a good guy who hates rice and knows the difference. I know about aftermarket parts for most cars. I get to study them all the time. I help my friends pick out stuff. I can't see a better car with a bigger aftermarket and cheaper all around performance than a 5.0 mustang. The guys who own mustangs cause they love them will tell you the same thing. The V-6's, well that is Ford making money. Sell 5 times as many as the gt's cause its looks similar and gets better gas mileage and has cheaper insurance. Parents love that when buying cars for their kids, hence ford has a good scheme. I respect all performance cars yet I don't have the same respect for most of the drivers.

Cant argue w/ suscess. Over 40 yrs of Mustang production and no sign of letting up yet. The Mustangs has had its up and downs but what really matters is what we have now and that a great line up of stangs and a 9 yr old car ( the 5.0 ) that is still concerded the benchmark for so many people to beat. Prob is that there are not alot of stock 5.0's left out there, its hard to tell if your dealing w/ a mild bolt on stang or a 500 HP pavment ripping beast and all the variations in between. When it comes to under the hood performance Imports will always be inferior, the new rage is all the small import cars being made fast but they cant get around that nagging problem of bigger displacement makes more power. All of these import cars that are made fast are not fast b/c they are more powerful but only b/c they are lighter. Yes some are faster in the 1/4 but show me your dyno sheet and I'll in your face. I want my car to be fast b/c its powerful, not b/c its light.

On a side note I was watching a car show on Spike TV and they had a built up TDR Toyota Celica w/ a Superchager. At 7 PSI it was putting out 166 HP and 140 TQ and ran the 1/4 in 14.9 and they were braggin ike it was something special Thanks but no thanks, I'll stick w/ my Domestic rear wheel drive V8 American Muscle

little story:

Last summer, myself and two guys in my fraternity all got "new" cars. I picked up the 95 gts, Ryan got a 98 GT, and Drew got a 99 Integra (GS whatever, the fast stock one). Anyway, we would screw around all the time in our cars and even though Drew would talk crap all the time about how chitty american cars were, we'd smoke him left and right on the street. Eventually, just so he could have the fastest car, he bolted on a Jackson Racing S/C. The guy dropped 10K on his car and about 5K in mods just to beat a 9 year old 5.0 that cost 6000 and had nothing more then a drop in KN, 3.27s, and American Thunders. Needless to say if I manage to get the pulleys and 3.90s I want, I'll be bringing the pain again!

I think haters look at spec sheet and poo poo the stang based on peak numbers. Its not about that at all, its all about the curves. Explain how Killercanary, with a 3700 pound NA vert in street trim can pull 12.3s with 293 RWHP. Good driving plus sick power curves. In the time it takes an import to rev into its power band, V8s are already into second gear and are car lengths ahead.

Ignorance is bliss for some people.

werd.....mustangs are tha sheaaaat. You either got one or ya dont. Everyone else is just jealous.

I have a buddy with an M3 from 97. I took him for a ride today and got on it. after all the noise stopped. He said "Holy s#^t, I wasnt expecting that!"

Needless to say, let them hate all they want, let them drive your car and im sure it will be another story.

I also agree that many people hate on the mustang because they come underpowered from the factory.
