I'm sure someone will chime in with "My buddy put 315's on his 17x9's and it worked fine..."

I personally wouldn't go larger than 285's on a 9in rim...If you wanna run 315's, get 10.5in DD out back.

Check out www.tirerack.com or go to Goodyear or BFGoodrich websights and see what the rim recommendations for the different tires are. I'm pretty sure the max would be like a 285/40. Im sure someones put a 305 or 315 on a 9" wheel. But like 275's on a 8" it will be kinda rounded and you wont get a good contact patch. If you want the 315's go 10.5" Im running 275's on 10.5" wheels cuz 315's wont fit. I can barely squeeze my thumb between the tire and exhaust now.

i also think that 285/40 would be the widest you can go

I'm running Nitto 315 drag radials on mine. They bulge out a little bit, but not bad. I DO have to roll the fenders though for when I hit big bumps. Just remember that Nitto's DRs aren't true 315's....they're a little narrower than claimed. I would run a regular 285 radial as the widest on a 9" rim.

IMO a 9" wheel is pefect for a 275 width tire. A 17x9, for example, needs a 275/40R17 IMO. It also happens to be pretty much the same height as the 245/45R17 that came from the factory. So no changes are needed for the speedometer.

Here are some 18"x9" rims with 275/35/18's all the way around.
