Widest tire on my 16 inch rim

What is the widest tire that I can run on my rear of my 97 Pony by keeping the 16 inch rim? I was going to keep the front the stock size 225-55-16 and go wider in the rear, will that be alright?

Try some 245-50-16, should be the same height

The widest you can safely go on the 16" rim is 265/45/16 or 265/50/16.
