Will 05+ wheels fit on my 98 cobra?

The backspacing on these wheels is different, I think around 3/4" to 1". They will be tucked in which is exactly NOT the kinda help we need. Just look at your stock wheels in the rear and you will see they are already quite tucked in.
The wheels would physically bolt up because the lug pattern is the same, but they would have possible rubbing on the strut in the front and on the exhaust or quadshock in the rear. You could remedy that with some high quality bolt on wheel spacers, but many people would argue they aren't safe and could damage bearings, ect. As you can see, you 'could' run them, but not without quite a bit of additional work and compromise. What's more, isn't that a lot of money for a factory wheel, with tires that you have to pay a disposal fee on?
 
I'm not a fan of the 'fanblade' wheels, but I really like the 10 spoke 17s on the GT. They look a bit odd on that black GT, but I think they look fine on my fox:
