Will 275 60 15 tires fit rear?

Buddy has a 1969 Mach 1. Just baought American Racing Torque Thruster D wheels with 3.75 back spacing. Rear wheels are 15X8.5 and he wants to run 275 60 15 BFG's. on stock suspension Will these work without mods?? He's planning to run 15x7 with 245 60 15 on the front. Any suggestions or comments welcome.

i don't think either tire will work with the wheels he has, generally speaking you need at least 4.5" of backspace to run that much tire on the back. and 245/60-15 is usually too much on the front no matter what wheel you have

I also don't think either tire will work with 3.75" backspacing, although I do believe both tires would work on a wheel with 4.75" backspacing.

i think they will be sticking out about 2-3 inches out of the fender

You can't run 4.75 on the front with 15" wheels.

Yeah, I guess you're right about that one; it would hit the ball joint. I wasn't even thinking about the fact that 15" wheels were being discussed. I just remembered that some people were running 245's in the front on Dodgestang's site, but those cars were running 17" wheels. I stand corrected.

Thanks for the replies. Wish the summit guys knew what they were talking about when my buddy orderd his wheels. Weird, Summit has never failed ME before.

I have 275/50/15 with stock set up with 3.75 BS. They stick out about 2inches but they are for my ET streets. I had to change my studs out to run that rim. I just needed some rims to run with. I have 15x8 rims
