I kinda know they are the same.. But somewhere I read something about the computers not being compatible. Does anyone know more about this subject before i spend the loot on this tranny in about 2 weeks...

I think RC is right (I am not real sure on the exact compatibilities like Brandon, Oink, et al). The 4R trans from a V6 works with 5.0's (seems to me that the 4R for a Ranger 4.2 V6 is very well liked).

Good luck.

You can use the transmission out of 99-01 mustang, but like mentioned above it has to be from a V6 (they are just as strong as the GT version, just different bolt pattern). You can keep the stock computer but you will need a chip burned to change the shift points. There's some other minor changes you will need to do as well.

I've done the swap before, I can try to answer any questions you might have.

I know guys, but our cars the SN95's were the bastard years, some of our cars have the AODE's and the others are what your talking about. Because, we are the transition years 5.0 to 4.6... but I will research the subject and let you guys know what i find out

all 94/95 autos were AODE, none where the 4R70w.. The 4R70W was not factory until 1996 on the 4.6 Mustang.
Yes the 4R70w will install in a 5.0, being you use the v6 version ( as they have the same bolt pattern) The 4.6 version of the 4R70w will not work due to the bolt pattern of the bellhousing.

That being said, there is ALOT of info out there on this very subject, and should be reserched heavly before asking such a question. Someone to check out would be DonL, and the TCCOA articles (thunderbird cougar club of america)

Oink thats your red car!!!! Man I have been drooling over that thing for about a year now... LOL since the first time i saw the engine bay.. great work and why did you change from the Saleen wheels to the Cobra's?
