will a 4cyl alternator fit a 5.0

just as the title says....I am putting my car in storage next weekend and need to install a alternator first...than in the spring I will do the good old 3G swap

They are different part numbers, so I would say no.

Autozone.com and others I've looked up list the same part # for the V8 and 4 cyl cars for 88. They are the same.

they are the same my buddy ran one on his car needed one in a bind and I happened to have one, works still using it 6months later

I stand corrected, MotorCraft does list the same part number.

ACdelco showed a different part number via google search, my apologies for making a false statement.

4 banger is a 75 amp, so might give you like 5 or 10 amps

They are both 75. If they were any differen't they would have different part numbers.

yeah i was thinking of the older cars, my 85 has a 60 amp, and the newer ones have 75, or so i've been told...

They are the same but the one halve of the housing faces a diffrent way. If you undo the 3 bolts(i think) you can turn the housing to face the proper way and the plugs will be in the right postion.
