If you all didnt know, my 302 suffered a fatal match with detonation. I had 2 spun rod bearings and piston damage to cylinders 5 and 8. Passenger side had no damage at all, but the drivers side had little detonation damage. Only one valve was hurt so that good. My question is should a resurface job be ok in this situation, i was told it will probably be ok because all the scars are within the headgasket seal area so a good seal shouldnt be a problem. Id hate to shave my heads at all because i just ordered a 331 pro bullet from DSS, for 9:25:1 compression and it dont want to change it at all. whadda ya think here?

You should have it magnafluxed/xrayed for cracks that may need to be welded shut before resurfacing.

Resurfacing a head shouldn't be too expensive. I'd guess no more than $100 to do both, but that does look pretty deep and may require some welding to fill it before resurfacing.
