I have a friend who is willing to let me borrow his DR's (mounted on wheels of course) and let me make a few passes at the local track

Will i break anything in my rear end if I use them for 3-4 runs and not launch above 3k rpm's? I just want to make sure I will be safe if I use them so I don't grenade the transmission or the rear end

on paper I can run probably about a 13.4 with a better 60ft, as my mph is at 102 so I know its possible...I want to atleast have a timeslip to prove it but I dont want to blow anythnig up.

Thanks in Advance :flag:

gotta pay to play, if you are going to use the drag radials to get a slip then maximize them and go for a low 1.8 60' at least. Otherwise you are just jerking yourself off with a 3000rpm launch with them, i can cut mid to low 1.9s on regular street radials and in decent weather my car is good for 13.3s or so on street tires with that 60'. Maybe better since i just did a few things.

personally I have seen most people only snapping axles on drag radials, and guys running slicks, break rear ends after abusing them for a while. of course this is only my personal experience, take it for what its worth

i was gonna ask the same question as well... what would i need to upgrade in my rear in order to run DR's safely?

A spool....but for a daily driver that MIGHT not be the best way to go. Most usually upgrade to 31 spline axles and when you do you must go to an Eaton, Auburn or Detroit locker etc...even so, there still are no guarantees! Since I am staying NA, I went ahead and put 4.30's in when they rebuilt my arse end...so far so good..

what the hell happened to mustang rear ends being so damn strong! ... i thought chevy had the weaker 10 bolt 7.5 rears?!... my friends chevy 10 bolt will last longer than our rearends? ...i thought mustang 8.8s are supposed to handle some abuse... i mean come on... my friends Z28 could handle 400hp on DR's ... why cant a mustang rear end handle stock power with a stock rear? sounds stupid to me that our rears can break with just 230 to the wheels

They (the chevy people) probably say the same thing about theirs/ours....It's all just luck of the draw. I'm sure we have some high horsepower stangs runnin slicks or DR's and a stock rear end w no problems what so ever.....
