Getting ready for the track friday night so i did some weight reduction on m car. I took out the rear seats, spare tire, passenger seat, Deleted the smog pump, Unbolted the sway bar, and took off the fog lights and brackets.. Do you guys think this will drop my 60ft at all or help My et?
My previous best is a 14.6 @98 w/a 2.8 60ft Im hoping to lower it to at least a 13.9

Im sure the weight reduction will gain a good tenth. They say every 100 or 125 lbs is a tenth of a ET. Plus some good weight transfer with removing the front end stuff. I think high 13's are an easy goal for you with a lower 60ft. Good luck man and keep us posted

I think it was a waste of time and driving like you do without a front sway bar is a bad idea..My .02

Being you dont have a car with a functional clutch nor have you ever been to the track i think your .02 is void.........

i'd say u can do it. Are you going to run street tires?? 2.8 60's sounds like street tires. you really need some sort of slick or drag radial. that will be the deciding factor.

last week i ran a 13.9@ 97 mph, with a 1.9 60foot. could have ran faster, i advanced my timing way to much and lost 2mph. so if i would have kept my 99 mph trap speeds like the first trip i would have ran faster. Mob ran 13.5s with 99mph trap speeds.

so i'd say get that 60' down u will have a 13. Do you still have the 3.55s?? i'd say get a steeper gear. my 3.90s put me at the traps right at 5100-5200, which is perfect for a stock cam.

the tires make the difference. nothing beats dumping the clutch at 4k and get no tirespin

good luck

at 99 mph you should be running a lot faster than 14.6... 2.8 60' is whats killing you. get your launch down and with 2.0 60's you'll be 13's easy.

Thats a pretty ignorant thing to say. You sound like a twit. Guys post not to get torn down but to get help. sure a 2.8 60 foot is a little high but maybe giving him some advice on a launching technique would have been more constructive.

I would suggest if you are running street tires which i assume you are to maybe play with the air pressure a bit. make sure you are getting a full print of your tread on the ground. perhaps lowering to around the 26psi. i doubt you want to go any lower then 20 psi. Also make sure your front tires are pumped up to there max. I would also stage shallow. Meaning just break the 2nd beam so that the second stage light just comes on. As far as launching tech maybe try launching at a lower rpm and doing a bit more of a rolling start then a side step the clutch and roast tires in first and second. I like the idea of losing the wieght and undoing the sway bar. I actually remove mine for the race. Take the weight right off the front end. if you are on street tires don't do a big burn out. heck drive around the burn out box. lightly clean the tires. street tires grip less when they are cooking hot. thats all i can think of for you right now. have fun.

I'll see ya out there tomorrow nite.

Just got finished pulling the sway bar off of mine. Its been unhooked for about 4 months just never took it off.

Weight reduction will help.

Keep workin on your launches and your 60' will come down and ETs will be much better. I am pulling 2.0s on my DRs but the stock converter is holding me back.

See ya out there tomorrow.

Correct me if I'm wrong but removing the spare tire, rear seats etc. won't help you much. Mustangs are mainly front heavy so taking weight from the back will just increase the weight bias even more no?

this is true to a point. the fact is every 100lbs you remove you can gain 1 tenth in the 1/4 mile. ok your right in now he is even lighter in the rear of his car. to curb the negitives of this he has to change his driving style. what rpm he launches at and so on.
