This site has alot of good tech. that might help.

I plan to run chrome bullits with 17x9 24mm offset in the front and 17x10.5 27mm rear.

if i was doing a 5 lug swap i would run the same but theres no way i will have enough to do that plus wheels. ect. so im sticking 4 lug for now. maybe after the 5.0 gets swaped in a couple years i will do that.

they make the 03's in 4 lugs, but IMO they look like crap. unless you are really hurting for new rubber save your money and do the 5 lug swap so you can get the 5 hole rims. no sense in doing something unless you are going to do it right.

Im pretty sure they wont fit...

My sister had an 86 V6 vert and we had a set of 16" ponys on it. Those rubbed pretty bad with 245/50s on it! Also your car has a different offset than a 5.0 car because of the smaller brakes (not sure what the pre 87 5.0s had, but I think they had the smaller brakes also).

jezze. i pro wont end up swaping a 5.0 in this car becasue its a vert. and i kinda want an org 5.0L car to start with. and its called the problem with money. member. i still have a new top paint and a **** load of other stuff i still got to pay for and only about 3,000 left to do that. :notnice:

If you want those wheels to fit, you'll have to either use spacers (and have them stick out to the side) or get spindles/struts from the later year 5.0s. Trust me, I bought those exact wheels, did a test fit before mounting the tires (thank god) and they smacked up against the struts. :bang: I didn't want to use spacers, so I ended up selling them. Beats paying the shipping AGAIN, and the 25% "re-inventory" fee. The early foxes and all 4cyl cars have a different strut & spindle than the later (aero) V8 foxes.

The front brakes on 79-86 are the same as the 4 cylinder brakes on the 87-93. They are 10" brake, 10" brakes were an option in 79-80. If those wheels fit on the front of an 87-93 4 cylinder then they will work on a 79-86. I had 17x9 cobra Rs on the front of my car back when I had 9" brakes and they fit the same with those as they did with the 11" 87+ brakes. Keep in mind the years that came with pony wheels had larger front wheel wells to accomadate the larger wheels.

I dont trust that website, they do not give backspacing and even then the offset is wrong.

Interesting because on my sisters V6 vert they rubbed all over the place, wheel wells, strut etc... yet on my 93 4cyl car they fit fine, and I dont even think they rub on a full lock turn...

But now that I mention it, I have spacers when her car wasnt using them. This is probably why, along with the larger wheel openings!

why dont u just use your car as a daily driver and start saving your money now, instead of dumping money into the 83 that you will eventually get rid of when you are "allowed" to get a 5.0 - just think, if you save now and then next year you find out your allowed to get a 5.0, you will be able to pick up a very nice one with all the money you saved..
