Will they fit???

I'm planning on purchasing a set of 15"x7" styled steel wheels this weekend and mount BFG 215 60R 15's all around. The wheels have a 4.25" backspace to them. I've checked the charts and it looks like this combo will fit my 65 coupe (all stock). What's your experience? Will they fit fine?

Hi I have a 67 Coupe with 15 x 7 all round, 215/60/15 on front and 245/60/15 on rear with 4.25 back spacing and have no trouble but I have a wider rear end to you and the track on front is wider then your 66. But I do think it will be no prob. If you are going to a shop then get the rim on with no tire and turn lock to lock, if no hit on frame either way and you can get full lock then it's good. A little more room between frame and rim would be good because the clearance will change once vehicle weight is on ground.

That should work fine. I have 215 60 15 front and 235 60 15 rear on 15x7 Magnums with 4.25 backspacing.

They should work out perfectly. I have the same setup on my 68. IMO, a 7 inch wheel with a 4.25 b/s is a perfect fit.

Thanks. I'm picking up the wheels and tires, along with a front disk brake kit. I'm finally getting rid of the drums up front. I can't wait to get started.

OK, so I picked up my new wheel & tire package along with my front disk brake conversion kit. All looked good, I paid for it, loaded up the van and went home. After I brought everything into the garage, I noticed the tires were not 215 60R 15's like I thought, but were 235 60R 15's. I know, I know... I should have looked closer. Being that the place I purchased the stuff from is 150 miles from home, I'm hesitant to head back and return them.

So, I put one of the wheels on the front to see if it would fit without any clearance issues. I did not drive the car, but just lowered it back off the jack. It's close at the upper control arm with less than 1/4" clearance. I tried turning the wheels from side to side without driving the car and all looks good. Fender clearance is fine too. I spun the wheels with the car jacked up and there is no rubbing at all.

Do you think I will have any issues once I drive on these? Any clearance issues with the upper control arms after I convert the brakes over to disks? As long as they fit, I prefer the 235's over the 215's. What do you think? Am I good to go?

If you don't have power steering the 235s are going to suck in the front.

I really think that 225 60 15 is as wide as you can go in the front with out clearance issues.

You should test fit one in the rear as well.
