Window regulator acting up!

Ok, tried to post this in 94-95 talk, guess that was the wrong forum. I'm having problems with my driver's door window on my '95 GTS. It sticks in several positions, and when using the one-touch down, the motor doesn't shut off at the full down position. It started last Sunday, and stuck in the closed position on Tuesday, wouldn't go down or up. The way it acted, I thought it was electrical, so I bought and installed a new switch, to no avail. Next replaced the regulator motor, still does the same thing. Anybody out there got any suggestions, short of burning it to the ground that is? Any help would be much appreciated!

Hey what's up. I might have had the same problem with you. My symptoms were that at first, it would stop responding and you'd have to push the switch a few times before getting the window to start moving. Mine was on passenger so I don't know about the one touch down but I'm presuming that if this prob were on drivers side, it would do exactly what you were saying. On the motor to the window, there is a gear that turns the linkage whatever to the window, and that gear sticks out from another gear thats inside of the motor body that the motor turns. where those two gears attatch are three rubber bushings that look like someone cut three half inch pieces off a glue stick and smashed them in there. Anyways after enough years those wannabe gluesticks break apart and the motor cant turn the gear anymore. Another symptom: if i pushed the motor button and pulled up on the window it would lift. Anyways.

Heres a link to the How-To that VibrantRedGT wrote up that I found EXTREMELY helpfull.

The part I ordered was the gear replacement for the up to 1993 Mustang windows, and all you need are the bushings in the replacement but you have to buy the whole thing. Other people were able to find the whole gear/bushing meant for our cars, but I just used the bushings and am definately satisfied that it will last a long time.

I hope you have a chiltons or something similar for our cars to get the door parts off but if not you might be able to wing it.

Oh, and for putting the bushings in, I used a c clamp to smash them in and like said in the how-to I used some grease. It was not a big deal of a project.

Hit me up on aim v8302stangs if you wanna ask me anything or here if I can help.

Thanks for the help guys. Yeah, I read that thread, it WAS helpful. Just figured that it must be something else, since the used motor that I put in did the exact same thing. Maybe I'll get the bushings and repair both motors and sell one off. And yeah, if I run the motor and pull up on the window, it lifts.

Anybody know what this Cardones is that is mentioned in the link? Never heard of them before.

Chilton's? We don' need no steenkin' Chilton's!! :D 'Least, not to pull a simple door panel!

Thx again,

Kerry

Cardone (A1 Cardone) is a parts company. A certain moderator over here works for them. :nice:

AZ, for one, offers their stuff. I have the bushing kit mentioned in the article but did not use it. They had to special order it.

Good luck.

Thanks again for all the great info guys. Picked up two sets of bushings at Autozone tonite, but they ain't $3.99, they're $5.99 a set, Ouch! Big money fer gluesticks, huh?

V8, just glad I could inject a little mirth into the day!

Hissin, which moderator is that? Keep in mind, I'm the new kid here. And is AZ another company? Do these companies have websites?

RC, great pics, being able to visualize things helps me lots.
