are these good heads? i have a cobra intake that i will be porting and getting a custom cam, longtubes, boltons, etc. how are these heads? a guy i know is selling some ready to run complete valvetrain and everything. just bolt on and go. how are they?

they are good...my buddy ran well into the 11's w/ them....i wouldn't pay more than $400-$500 though.

i'd pay more for aluminum...but usually you see iron's for sale

Pretty good deal if that's what you want. Remember it's only a good deal if A: you can resell the stuff for more money easily or B: that's what you really want.

With all the aluminum heads out there, i'd rather have aluminum but that's me.

He seems to be giving you a decent amount of stuff, so by no means is he ripping you off.

With the current mods in your sig, i think the $600 bucks could be spent better elsewhere. Especially since using them on the car the way it sits may not work so well.

I am slowly collecting parts. I just wanted to know how these would stack up against other heads. I have a full exhaust, pulleys, cai, etc right now, basic bolt ons. Off the car I have a cobra intake that is going to be ported and a 70mm throttle body. but just slowly collecting parts, only going to tear the motor apart once.

I think it's a fair deal if that's the direction you want to go. Only fair because you are getting the rockers and the head bolts.
Which would normally make up for around another $200 of the project.
People over look the head bolts and studs when they are budgeting a project, those damn arp kits are minimum $100 bucks usually.

I wouldn't lay a dime down on anything non aluminum if you are only doing this once. You may land up wanting more power later and you'll probably not find it in the windsors, but with a better set you can get them worked by a machine shop.

I think the studs listed are for the rockers. I might just try to find a set of fully dressed twisted wedge heads for a decent price. really my only goal is for 300hp on motor, and its mostly a street car, with a few runs to the track here and there.

Sounds like a better idea to me, those heads may of gotten you close to 300, but a set of TFS's box stock may very well get you more than than and have some room for later improvement, not to mention the 50 lb. reduction.

I call ....got a friend in the 10's with them. Course he has a power adder as well though. These heads w/ the right combo and possibly a custom cam will get you where you want to be. Hell you can drop weight else where...relocate the battery to the back / get a mini-battery / remove the A.C. condensor....lightweight seats...all worth more than 50 lbs. Yeah, aluminums are good, Im not knocking that. But you can make more than enough power than You want w/ the Windsors.
