Winter and rust

Do you think it is better to do body work in the cold season because of the decline in humidity and moisture? This is kind of a out there question but in the summer when doing body work, sanding etc. You have to hurry cuz bare metal will rust fast.

I'd say it's an advantage to work in dry conditions (winter or air conditioned inside).. or southern Cali

Disadvantage becasue it's colder so your curing times will be alot longer. Paint for example will take longer to dry which increases the amount of dust, bugs, and other imperfections in the paint.

Yeah the paint is like one of the bad sides of it, but I am not painting the car, just some of the pieces and priming, primer dries faster. Also, for me, my garage is attached to my house and stays well insulated, "warm" when I need it. That is why i bust my ass durning the winters because its nicer conditions to work in than summer.

Yeah, california weather would be nice, but I could do without the over populated areas there. Still seems like a nice place.

Takes longer to dry and cure...but you don't get as sweaty while sanding. I like body work and primer in the winter and paint in the spring.

I don't know a lot about paint, but if it takes longer to dry, wouldn't that result in a better cure?

So long as you keep it free from dust particles and other floaty ***** which might get into the paint while it's drying, a longer cure might result in a better, more durable paintjob.

Note: I've never painted a car, just talked with people who have, and I vaguely remember something about the curing process. DON'T QUOTE ME...ASK AN EXPERT!!!
