Heres the deal i got in my car today and started it up. Then all of a sudden the wipers started working. I looked at the wiper/turn signal stalk and it was still in the off position. I shut the car off and back on a few times but still the same crap. I turned it back and forth, the switch but no change? anybody have any clues? also the everything else in the car works fine, including the turn signals and 4 way flashers.

under your dash is a wiper delay box.i can't remember the exact name ford calls it but it is a ford only item.mine was going bad it wouldn't allow the wipers to park or work on any speed but high.it is located close to the steering column.

i don't have any pics but i think the part was less than $100 at the local ford dealership.i work in an independent garage so we get a discount from over the counter prices.try to find a buddy at a garage to help save some money, every little bit helps.

..

Check the connector under the hood also, to the wiper motor. I had a similar problem and the connector was cracked and shorting, fixed that then two months later in a pouring rain, the wipers came on when I switched them on and locked in the upright position in a full on rain storm.. Drove home like Ace Ventura

Where under the dash is it? I remember seeing a peachish/white colored box under the drivers side dash before, is that it?

well today i check the wiper motor and its plugs with no problems at all. i noted that the wipers are on even in the off position, they stay on when i turn them on and go faster when i switch them to high. but when i toss it to intermitin they still just move mormal with no stopping. im gonna see if i have another turn signal stalk layin in the garage if not ill check ebay. other wise its off the the repairman!?

I have the same problem. Just happened, when I was playing around with some wires on my driver side fender. I try not to drive my car in the rain, so I just leave my wiper motor unplugged. If and when I need em, I just pop the hood and plug it back up.

Tape your wipers down to your window.

I don't think that will fix it, we changed it on my friends and still no change. His only work on High, and never park, thats why I asked where this box is under the dash because I have 2 parts cars that both had the part, so either if not both cars should have it if they are all the same on all 87-93 cars.

i would hope there the same because the stalks signals/washers are different for 87-89 and the 90-93s are longer to compensate for the larger steering wheels with airbags.

the correct name for it is wiper govenor and it is a black box located on the driver side of the steering column.you can make sure its the right one by simply unplugging the box and see if the wipers quit moving.

so far that seems to be the problem....i found the box under the dash next to the steering column, almost right next to the fuses. Its part #E7ZE-17C476-AB.

I disconnected it and the wipers stopped moving. plugged it back and they started the same crap again. So tomorrow ill head to my buds shop so he can order it at his price and let you guys know from there.

thanks again dudes!
