Ok i am back with my issue again of alternator not getting charge to Battery
took alternator off and had it checked at autozone it passes.
Battery passes.....so the first time i just moved the spades in the alternator
over to make good connection to the voltage regulator plug and Bang
volt meter jumped up to normal and battery light went away.
was fine for 2 weeks.............then last friday, i start car up
and battery light just kind of flickered all the way home from work
and slowly the volt meter gauge was going down to 8
about a 30 min drive.............now the battery warning light stays on steady
so i found a wire that went from the solenoid down to a harness
and between the solenoid and the harness..........i noticed black tape there
and the wire was burnt in half......one wire into two wires...is that one of the
fuseable links............so i replaced that connection with an inline fuse
12 ga wire..........30amp fuse..............i am still getting battery warning light
and volt meter is still on 8...........my question is can the voltage regulator plug
be bad like it may not be getting a good connection............how tight should that
connector fit onto the spades on the alternator itself.?

the fuse is ok. that was the first thing i checked when the indicator still on.
the fuseable link was taped up by somebody else
and was burnt in half and i replaced all that with a inline fuse w/30amp fuse
cuz i thought for sure that was my problem but that wasnt it
the harness and grounds look all good every where else
that is why i am wondering if maybe the voltage regualtor plug could be bad
or the rectifier plug could be bad.........

The main plug on the 65 amp stock Alternators had a habit of overheating and burning up. Look closely at the inside of the connector for signs of heat damage.

With the engine off, look for 12 volts at the alternator main power plug. No 12 volts (or whatever the battery reads) and the wiring to the main power plug is bad.

i checked it and i have no volts at all
so i poked thru the wall of the wire
the blk/or wire before it goes into the 2 into 1 and no volts there either
and was not getting any readings there as well
is there somewhere inside the wiring harness that might of burned up
or am i missing something

this alternator didnt come with a new plug
but somebody has spliced in a new plug yes
i just bought this car about a month ago
love the car just having some issues with it getting charge to the battery
how hard would it be just to run new wire from the alternator to the battery
or is that even possible can i bypass the wiring harness or not?

That's how it should be. But Ford doesn't do it like that. I changed it from the alt straight to the battery. (I had it done about 2 weeks ago) My charging issues seemed to go away after that.

We were looking for a draw. There an 8 gauge wire from the headlight harness (passenger side) going to the driver side rite along the condenser.(inside wire harness) It was losing amps from one end to another.

As far as the alt wire, like I said I had it done. But Ford has the alt wire going to relay I think it is. The device(the correct name escapes me rite now) rite by the stock coil. But Ford runs it there instead of rite to the battery. Just follow the wires and youll see what Im talking about. I don't think its a big deal just to swap over the wire.

would it be simpler just to do a 3g Conversion
on my car...........that way i could use new wires
or would i still have wiring gremlins
from reading on the board here..........the only wire i would still be using
is the voltage regulator plug and the stator wire off the power wire
would this be a better deal for me?
thanks guys

Simpler?..........No
Better to have a 3G? Yes

i just cant figure out why my alternator isnt getting any charge to the batttery
the only think i have left to do is
replace the power plug (which looks good to me) doesnt look melted
other than that the wires are in excellent shape unless there is a wire
in the harness that is no good........
all my grounds are hooked up.............

Did you redirect the power wire from the alt. ?

no i havent done the 3g upgrade yet
i was still on the original wiring, i just cant figure out why
it is not charging...........it seems like if i can upgrade to the 3g upgrade
i am hoping it starts charging.....i gotta order the Alt and accessories this week
i just hope if fixes my problem
thanks
