Just got the proform shiftlight from summit, and had a few questions.
1) where is the best place to run the wires? should i drill a hole in the dash, or run it through the air vents for the windshield?
2) instructions say red wire goes to ignition(+), black goes to negative battery terminal, and the green one goes to the orange or brown wire w/ yellow strip at the coil wire, is this correct?

any other suggestions appreciated.

I dont have the stang with me right now to check the coil, but the given wiring method is the right one. Get your power from a fuse under the dash that works ONLY when the key is turned to ON. Your green wire needs to get hooked to your coil negative side wire. Since I cant look at it now, I'm not sure what color it really is on our cars.

As for where to run the wires...Well dont make any holes if you dont have to IMO. You'll screw up the dash. Try to run them where they wont be seen thats all.

next to my clock, and back a little. i guess i might have to run the wires into the air vents.

EDIT: it will be close to the clock, so maybe i can run them under it where the clock wires go into the dash. how can i remove the clock?

The clock just pops out from the top of the dash. FWIW, I mounted mine right behind the steering wheel and ran the wires behind it right into the dash.

The shift light (it's a raptor performance)

Another angle, with the caps (red for night driving, black for no light). Ignore the bandaged hand, I stabbed a saw through it that week, lol.

Top view, the wiring runs down into the steering column.

An overall view, nice clean look there with no wiring.

I grabbed power from a key-hot fuse under the dash. Just check to see which ones are key-hot, and you're set. I don't remember which wires it is on the coil, and I have my light disconnected right now, so I can't even look. TTT for ya.

red wire off shift light goes to fuse box to a fuse that has 12 volts with key on only (see pic.). black wire goes to a good ground. and the green wire will splice into the tan/yellow wire coming off the coil....

I have my light in the same spot as bill302.

And I wired it the same. But you dont have to run the green wire to the coil. Just find the tan wire with the yellow striper behind the cluster and run all your wires back there.
