Hi all, i've about had it with my car.

My car died, thought i was out of gas, turns out im checking the basics and the metal portion of the rotary button had fallen off into the distributor, so I pull that out, am able to walk to pep boys and get another rotary button. The car at this point starts up like a champ.

So then im driving home, (did hear some whining, which i think honestly is another unrelated problem ) and it dies again. While waiting for triple A I noticed I unplug the coil and set the boot next to it and turned it over to see if I had any spark and there is no spark.

I've replaced:
-ignition module
-additional rotary button
-rotary cap ( MSD cap )
-ignition coil ( have MSD coil )
- I rebuilt the distributor 3 years ago when I got the car, to replace the stator.

It turns but it wont start. Any suggestions!? Are there any sensors, and/or and ECU fuse, or anything im not thinking of that could cause this? Also, does anybody know where online I can get ahold of wiring schematics/diagrams for ignition systems on a 94/95 5.0's? THanks in advance im loosing my mind over this thing

Even though you rebuilt your dizzy, whining from it is a tell tail sign that its done. I would check into a new dizzy. If you can verify that the whining is not coming from the dizzy disregard what ive said. good luck

What is a rotary button? Are you talkin about the carbon button under the top of the cap (that touches the rotor)? Or the rotor itself?

In any case, the replies have been good. WHen it wont start - this occurs when the car is hot? Grab a noid light and look for injector pulsing. If you dont have spark OR injector pulsing, the PIP is very likely the issue.

If you DO have injector pulsing but no spark, keep going through your ignition - the PIP would appear to be working.

PIP's do take a poop when they get hot (hence my asking above). Sometimes spraying electrical contact cleaner on the shutter and window dealies will cool the sensor (and kinda clean it, esp if your dizzy bushing is on the outs and allowing the PIP components to hit eachother and create carnage) and allow the car to start and run for a little bit.

Random thoughts. Good luck.
