Mike stamps TPR PER on the top of the heads where the valve covers seal.

If they didn't have that stamped on them they most likely aren't thumpers.

yeah they had the stamp on them. they really perform well and with my B-cam it pulls great. with the cam advanced, it starts pulling around 3k and i shift at around 5500 or 5600. Much better than stock.

in a way it sorta sucks over the stock engine. i havent really got to feel whay my new engine has to offer.

with my new engine, when i get on it, it gets up to speed QUICK and it doesnt take long at to break the speed limit, i need to get the track, the right strip and good tires so i can really find out what this beast has. Its got more than you with think with stock heads and intake.

i have always had the respect for a stock engine. for some reason a stock 5.0 always performs GREAT. not just raw power. but where it starts pulling. a stock 5.0 is the PERFECT street engine, has great low rpm grunt. with a bigger engine you have to really goose it to get the power goin. with the stock motor its just right there. around here the 5.0s rule the road. there isnt anything that can take them.

I have a more high rpm oriented intake and 1.7 roller rockers, My car stops making power at 5200rpms so I shift around 5800-6000. I ran a 13.6 at 102 in 95+ degree weather on bald street tires. I think with slicks it has a low 13 or high 12 in it.

Thumpers are great, but I keep finding myself wanting more. Im thinking a nice custom cam after I convert to mass air should open it up alittle more.

i might be heading to the track this friday... it will most likely be pretty hot, i will have some Dragradial. i am hoping my car will at least run a low 13 or something. I think it has 12s in it, but people on here dont think so. only way to find out is to go hehe

That's because 99% of the people on here have spent fortunes and can't get into the 12s. Everyone laughs when i say you can run 12s with GT40Ps and a good cam, all motor....but i've seen it a zillion times. It just takes the rest of the car being able to run that fast with not a whole lot of power, and a DRIVER who can wheel it that fast. The latter being what most people are missing from their 12 second quest.

Be sure to post up numbers. I'd like to know what mine should run with slicks. You should also dyno your car.

how does a dyno deal work... do you just pay for an hour of time or what?
whats a ballpark price for a dyno???

i think the closest dyno is maybe 75-85 miles away:(

On another note i have seen very basic low mod cars run great!
I have a friend who's old mustang was a bone stock engine, had a 5PSI, JUST 5psi vortech, thats not very much. and a gear and ran 12.80s

its just in the driving! I havent been in a while, so i will hopefully get some good runs in. I found out this Sat, our local track is having a ford only event, a fun drag and carshow and swap meet. I will go to that! and get some numbers!
