Well, I had my fox almost complete, just needed some interior work like headliner and such when only 800 miles in, the 5023 e-street heads decided to start coughing up valve springs. I started getting a lot of water vapor in my valve covers, but not the oil. Then the engine let loose with clouds of white smoke through the exhaust....
Long story short, tomorrow I'm pulling the edelbrocks off and putting on a set of milled twisted wedge with 8458pt2 felpros.I may have the e streets respringed to put on a prepped short block but we'll see.. I'm very disappointed with these heads and warn not to buy them
...

What does "coughing up valve springs" mean? Were the springs breaking? Retainers letting loose? Those e-street springs dont like cams over 550 lift.

How did you know you had water vapor in the valve covers? Just wondering because maybe I do too on my 20 yr old Performer heads...

Except for the springs, the water stuff just sounds like it blew a head gasket.

no. They're built for hydraulic.Got that from the horses mouth at an edelbrock booth . Spoke to steve koepp..anyway, I just installed the milled trick flows today, along with the manifold and dizzy. Wednesday, I just have the headers to bolt back on, along with the carb and PS pump, alt.
On a side note, when I took the rockers off the edelbrocks, four of the damn studs came out with the rockers! And I torqued them down before I installed the rockers the first time. I just don't think these heads are put together well......
