Working out some bugs with idle

So here is the situation. Hci swap. Im having an issue setting my idle. It idles around 1100, and it was hanging really bad earlier and even got to around 2500 at some points. I believe I have a leak somewhere under the upper plenum, but I could be wrong. That will be my first check. Timing is set to 13 but Ive been told that being a tooth off can mess things up. As well last night after a decent drive my headers were glowing a tad, but the temp guage was reading cool. Any ideas on the situation?

No info about the new parts? What did you do cam wise and tune wise?

It could be a vac leak or an IAC issue but there's no way to know without a lot more info.

while idling, try spraying some carb cleaner at different connections around the intake. if the idle changes, then you are close to a vacuum leak

If you have the Quarterhorse you need to datalog the fuel trims at idle , if you are using BE2010 try using the MAF transfer autotune function

Its hci, trickflow 170s, with a 220/220 .525 lift cam. Its fox style no elbow. The tps is set at .98, and I know the IAC is working. It currently has 19's on it.

I would like to say that if your headers are starting to glow you might be pretty lean, cam timing off, or ignition timing retarded to far but you said its 13* advanced so.... You should really try the carb cleaner route to see if you can find a vacuum leak. I actually had a problem once where I had the intake off and when I put everything back together because I used original injectors and forgot to spray some silicone on o-rings when I put it back in the lower and started it up had a nasty vacuum leak through there actually. Food for thought...
