I've read several times that cranking the starter during WOT will shut down the fuel injectors. I need to verify this because I don't wanna try it and have the engine hit the rev limiter in <1 second after start up.

If they do shut down it'd be a good thing to do in winter mornings when the oil is viscous.

well yes it does shut off injectors at WOT when cranking but soon as it fires it will turn it back on and you will get the rev you don't want. PCM looks at cranking RPM it will turn pump back on as soon as it sees you need it.

I see. So I'd have to remove the plugs then. (PITA)

if you go WOT before cranking the eninge it will not start, just crank. if your worried warm up the car, shut her down then try it. it will not start

Well I may be wrong on this, but I think as long as vehicle does not exceed normal cranking RPM the injectors will stay off, but if the engine has some raw fuel left in combustion chambers and it fires and the cranking RPM jumps up(400+ RPM) the PCM will determine that engine is running and turn injectors back on.

I use this technique to re-prime the oil system before starting after an oil change. Floor the pedal, crank it for 5-10 seconds or so, release the pedal and it fires right up.

Yes, if you hold the throttle wide open and turn the key the car will just spin the starter and not fire up with the fuel system disabled.

If you let out of the throttle a little it will fire, but it's not gonna slam to the rev limiter or anything.

Good idea. Never thought to do that.
