Have a buddy that has an 89 super coupe T-bird parts car. We have been throwing around the idea of puttin the drive train in a fox body since we have a complete car for parts. But the biggest set back is, would it be worth all the work to do that???

Reason I want to do it because the SC bird he has is a 5 speed.:D I keep telling him lets do it but he really doesn't want to mess with all the work.. I think with supercharged 3.8 and a 5 speed would be a blast to drive. Specially if we could find a coupe with no power options..:D

Just remember that the most power you could get out of the M90 and all the other bells would be around 350. If you over boost the S/C the heads start to lift. A friend of mine has a Super coupe that runs faster than my car. I am sure he knows a lot about the motors.

I am sure it would be a fairly easy swap though. Just need to get some motor mounts from a 86 or lower V6 car.

not particularly.. you can get a good bit of power out of those m90s.. get it ported and go through the motor.. build it up.. mess with the pullys.. those m90s are already over driven from the get go.. they can supply the 16 lbs of boost neccesary :)

not too bad of a idea i have a stupid coupe that until recently would walk my stang, the sc tranny will not work, unless you have a monkey in the back seat to bang gears but a t-5 will bolt to a 3.8, if you are gonna do it ditch to stock intercooling, it is a crap setup, not sure you could retain it anyway, scoupes are under cooled over weight and have too much $!ht in the engine bay if you can solve those problems they are great, it's a hell of a sleeper though

Sounds like a fun project! Just dont pull a 5.0 out and put a v6 in:nono: You should be able to find a 4 cyl donor for like 1500.

Oh no, wouldn't sacrafice a V8 car for the swap. Would be a 4 cylinder on older V6 car. I think it would be a cool little ride and probably good on gas. Be a nice little import runner,, then they couldn't complain,, " Well it's a V-8".

I think it would be pretty cool. Since you have a complete parts car, if you can find a clean 4 or 6cyl fox for cheap, you could probably do the project without spending too much.

Maybe you can find a 5.0 car with a bad motor or no motor, then you would already have the 8.8 posi and V8 suspension.

I always thought those 5-speed SC's had a T-5, but if someone knows for sure they don't, then listen to them.

I lovede my 94 SC, but it was too much money to keep it running, let alone modify it. They have tons of little problems, are a b i t c h to work on and most of the parts are obsolete.

Well if this swap does happen??? It will be stripped of all accesoriess.(I.E.. AC, PS and stuff) Under hood will be all business, and no luxeries...

But we did get the car to his house today.. It runs, just needs a fuel pump and battery. Borrowed a batt and shot some starter fluid in the intake and she ran for a few... HHmmMMMMmmm!!!!! Wee'll see what happens on this!?!?!??!?!

i hate you all...

...i dont have the money for any more cars or projects, but i have been dying to do this very thing for a few years now...and this thread gets the wheels in my head turning again....

...uugggghhhh.....

please keep us updated!

Dear Myke86GT,
I was just reading that you wanted to try an M90 install on a donor foxbody. There maybe something, however, you haven't thought about yet.
Why not put the motor in a LT1 or LS1 camaro. That way you could have something fun to drive, exotic, and make a lot of mullet heads squirt milk out of their noses.

Thanks,

Dr. Strype

Why would I want to mess up a good motor by puuting it in a camaro? J/K-n..
