Got out to the barn at 10 tonight, wanted to accomplish something. It's 2am now, and I give up for tonight. Will add more words tomorrow. Enjoy some pictures for now. (2am Joe doesn't care some of the pictures are sideways)

Back in the eighties I may have experimented with cocaine and I believe that I actually moved that fast.

Post a regular speed version of the tucking of the wrap around the hood scoops. I'd be real interested to see how you got it to lay so smooth.

Seems like magic to me.

I put a time lapse app on an old phone, and I'm still experimenting with the intervals it snaps a picture. The time lapse of the hood was set at 10 seconds, and made it way too fast. The hood took me a little over an hour and a half to do. The fender was probably around 45 minutes.

The kind of vinyl I'm using is conformable, and made for doing wraps. Getting it on with no wrinkles is just a matter of heat, stretching it, and patience. Ill take a regular movie on a smaller (less time consuming) peice.

If we were doing a complete wrap on a customer car the size of a fox mustang it would range anywhere from 2000 - 4000, depending on if we were printing / artwork time and whatnot. Bigger the car, the more money it is. Alot of the cost is labor. For just what i did in the pictures above i already have about 5.5 hrs in.

The vinyl im using is very forgiving. You can fold it over on itself and peel it back apart. It doesnt really "stick" until you apply preassure. That being said there is still a learning curve as to how much heat to use, and where to pull. Id put it at a 3.5. You could probably train a monkey to do it, but it would need to be a smart monkey

So far the hood scoops were the most challenging part, not getting any wrinkles.

I got my material from metrorestyling.com

I got 60" x 45' which should be enough to do the car, plus some extra if I goof up. I found a cupon code online, and shipped to me it was about $360

What I picked was what I wanted, but also it ended up being one of the cheaper colors that they had. They have the "chamelion" stuff, conformable chrome, even conformable woodgrain

Those options would have all been several hundred dollars more.

Back at it again tonight.... Someone asked me above how I was going to do the bumper. Simple answer, I'm gonna cheat. Lots of seperate pieces, with the seams hidden in body lines as much as possible.

Magic vinyl.. just pullit back apart.

Yea.. there are seams...

Not really noticable from more than 4 feet away....

That is some of the coolest sht brother.

I saw a guy putting a clear cover on the front bumper and hood front edge of a fiat at work. Kind of a protective covering.

Do you suppose that's a vinyl type product as well? I don't know if it comes in a clear sheet or not. I was amazed that it didn't wrinkle.

See if there is a sign shop near where you live. I used to work for a place that also did vinyl wraps and they may have bits of leftover stuff that isn't really good for much else but practicing... I (along with 3 other people ) wrapped 2 RV's for a trade show, that was a pain in the back-side but we did 2 complete RV's in 2 1/2 days...
