yea so all these threads are getting closed down and i really think some of the mods are running around on a powertrip. Some guy made a thread about his cobra clone and selling it and stuff. It got closed because "user listed his vehicle here with the intention of advertisement " that sounds like an assumption to me because the post did NOT sound like an advertisement to me. and this comment of "Someone who never posts here suddenly coming to tell us that he's "Thinking of selling" something is an obvious advertisement. " im sorry, maybe it sounded like an "obvious advertisement" to you, but im sure not to most of us. He was showing his beautiful car and asking if we thought he could get 10k for it.. MOST of us do it all the time?? It could have been handled in a more tasteful manner like how daggs handled the whole flava thread with his new notch t-shirts.. shut down this thread i dont care it just is getting aggrivating that it seems some of the mods are running around on a powertrip...

I guess I'm not "most of us".

I dunno it didnt sound to me like an advertisement at all? i just see threads allllll the time about that kinda thing i didnt see anything different with this thread? It seems like once a week someone makes a thread just like it... i dunno i guess im in the wrong....

It's a fair question. I can't speak for every mod but I can speak for me an my policy in this forum.

It's largely a subjective call. Some of the questions that I ask myself are:

What is the standing of this member in the forum?

Is he/she known for attempting to attract attention to himself or sale items.

Does this person have any standing at all? (new members with no reputation... don't even bother posting an ebay link here for a running auction. There's no way to determine if that person is trying to cleverly draw attention to an ebay sale or whatever).

How does the thread help fellow StangNet members aside from making them aware that you're selling parts or cars?

Is there a point of discussion included in the thread? (if not, it's just an advertisement)

Often, staff members are caught between a rock and a hard place. Most do their best to be subjective for the overall good of the forum. I guarantee that you folks would have HUGE issue with rampant spam across the forum. You'd be weeding through thread after thread of folks trying to sell their junk as opposed to participating with hobbyists and enthusiasts about Mustangs.

For me... spammers piss me off. Spammers that think they're slick are even worse. We get a LOT of folks to register and their first post is some crap about "How much is this worth?" I don't think so...

It's not a power trip... it's an attempt to enforce the Terms of Service on this board and also to keep the forums fit their intended purpose:

Exchange of technical information about MUSTANGS.
A focal point for enthusiasts to gather and talk about their hobby.

(wow... that's the second time I've said this today. hehe)

I wonder what kind of reputation i have

I don't seem to fit any of the little cliques....i'm not a mod suck up....hell i don't even have a CT....i do have a hard time passing up the religious debates or drinking debates in Make Believe....i'm probably "that opinionated prick with the primered heap"

Daggs did what he had to do with mine and he explained to me why he shut me down. I didn't want the thread to go the way it did.....but it is what it is.

Just think if these guys let spammers go nuts in the forums, nobody here would continue to stop in and chat cause all you would see would be threads about what stuff is worth and what is available. Thats why we have the classifieds.

im still new... i know my rep in the mods eyes....:nonono: :nonono: not good
if i had to guess ill prolly get served some bancakes befor this summer..
the winter keeps me outta my car and on my p/c so now i have double the chances of getting served:nice: :SNSign:

I understand thats what the classifieds are for. and when Daggs shut down flava it was in a tasteful, respectful manner. i just felt like we've all done the "hey selling the car what can i get for her" thread once in a while.. (not saying all of us have) and 90 - your on here 24/7 your DEFINATLY a known person round these talk sections :D i know daggs i hate spammers too, i guess i just didnt see it as spam, and if it was i figured it would be tastefully handled with, not made into a sticky that is is now? :nonono: also i know its not something you did, cause it would be handled differently.. i guess i got alot going on latley in my life and it kinda spilled into the form... sorry about, i was just something that made me say wtf :D

Personally, I hate wading through all the "how much is my ______ worth" threads. The posters can, each and every one of them, answer their own question very simply: Go to www.ebay.com and search "completed items" for what they're wanting to sell. That will tell you what you can expect to get or ask for your item. Pawn shops use this exact method to determine what to price something at. I tried to dicker with one on a guitar and they immediately pointed to four recent auctions for similar guitars and refused to come down.

Something is worth exactly what someone else is willing to pay for it. Referring to the post in question, to me that car was worth $7500 or less. As nice as it looks, it's still a 120,000 mile GT. I've seen real Cobras with fewer miles sell for less.
