Hey everyone, I'm installing a whole bunch of stuff right now, and I just pressed my first new X-2 ball joint into the control arm, placed on the spindle, and tried bolting it down with the 15/16 nut. The problem is that when I try to tighten the nut the ball joint spins!! so theres like a 1/2" gap between the nut and spindle and this cant be right.. How do I tighten that nut without spinning the ball joint shaft, and is the ball joint shaft spinning a bad thing?

Thanks to anyone who helps!

Might be to late to help but if you jack up under the ball joint and tap downward on the knuckle you should be able to get the taper to seat so it will stop spinning.

I agree with the jack resolution. That's what I have done with earlier Mustangs. Did Steeda include spring spacers with the ball joints

I just lightly hammer the spindle on, then use a pneumatic impact to put the nut on, works like a champ! And yeah, don't let them spin, not too great for them!.

I dont have an impact gun.. and i wasent planning on gettin one so what i did was hammer down the spindle, get some lock washers (2) and put them between the nut and spindle and it tightened down perfectly with some loctite on it all. I guess its not the "right" way to do it but I dont see how this will affect anything differently.

Now that you have it tightened you should be able loosen the nut back up and remove the washers.

you should not use lock washers on the ball joint. i would do it the right way and not have to worry about it down the road
