is this a good peice? is it a pain to use? im not a computer guy, i dont know what im doing most of the time with computers. so i fear trying to use this. i wanted to just get a custo mchip, but tim from mph said i will need this so he could make minor adjustments if needed.

i have to do a tune after i get heads and cams and gears. i want a dyno tune, but just wanted somthing simple till i get there.

my worry is reflashing the computer, i figure once i do this, it will be very hard to find someone to work on my gt if there is a problem. what experiances have you guys had?

i would love to do that, i just dont think i will be able to drive the car with heads and cams installed without a tune. id have to drive it to the dyno shop. the place installing it and the plane dyno tuning will be different.

I have the xcal2 and love it. You don't need a computer to use it. The tunes come loaded on the handheld. Your stock tune will be stored on the handheld too.

The only time you need to use a computer is to change settings.

If your dyno tuner is an sct dealer than get an xcal2. I love my xcal1, it works fine but the 2 is better (has data logging, end user adjustability). You can use tims tune on the xcal until you get to a dyno to perfect the tune. Then you will never need a chip again. You can have a different program loaded into the xcal anytime you change your setup.

It really only helps increase HP because it basically increases timing. You will get better throttle response. Now I only gained 7 HP w/ the SCT X-cal 2 dynotune. But the throttle response and the car feels so much quicker. You amount of mods don't matter. Will only help

yup, xcal2 is great! my tuner said the xcal2 is much better than xcal1
I take it that you took the car and had it dyno tuned with the x-cal2. Just curious about the cost. I'm debating on buying the tuner at right or going to a dealer and let them dyno tune it and buying the X-cal from them. I've used this place to get a baseline. Pearl02.

yup, i went to dyno speed racing in memphis, tn and ran on their dyno, bought the xcal 2 from them, and they tuned my car with it for me. great guys down there, it was a 3 1/2 hour trip for me and worth it!
