XCal2...Getting FRUSTRATED

Last friday, a friend and I took a trip down to Pompano Beach and we each bought an Xcal2 from Steeda. They gave us each one tune and said it would be a good base to start our tuning from. The only thing is, it seems as though i need the file that Steeda made in order to do anything...and Steeda didn't give the file to either of us...They don't even have our email addresses.

After numerous phone calls to Steeda AND SCT, I've been run around in circles for 2 days and haven't recieved any answers. I'm slightly disspointed with the service I've been receiving from either end.

What do I need to do so I can start tweaking parameters on my computer with the ExtremeTune software?

I don't have an XCal 2 but any SCT dealer that offers custom tunes should be able to get you a *.xtr file based on your stock ECM code on which you can make adjustments. Only thing is Steeda has probably already charged for it and should be the one to send it to you.

Yes they did charge me for it. But for some reason they can't give me the file. I dont know why.

But i did get help by calling SCT directly and talking to Ryan.

If they even gave you a tune it will be on the xcal2, use the usb cable and pull the file off the xcal2 onto your pc using the extreme software. You can only tweak basic things anyway on your own.

You mean the Xcal2 won't let you tweak the tune right there from the handheld unit? You have to buy an additional cable and download the file to your PC to tweak it?

I thought SCT had an excellent tech support network. At least that's what I keep hearing.

The user adjustable parameters are not available yet. They will be available sometime in August and yes you will need to connect to your computer to load it onto the unit unless you send it back to the seller. I'm not really pleased that they really don't advertise that when selling the unit. I found out thru word of mouth that these were not part of the unit now. Go to www.sctflash.com and check the forums for the latest.

With a custom tune, developed for your specific vehicle, it will not make any difference whether you use a XCal 2 or a Predator. They are just a different device to deliver it to your ECM. Thus I always recommend that someone who already has a Predator not sell it (at a loss) to buy an XCal 2 thinking that the tune in it is somehow "better".
