On Tuesday I'm gonna try and get around to changing out headliners. I think it was supposed to come w a strip of double sided tape but it didn't. Is it just held up by the trim pieces?

My 79's was held up by the trim, the light, then by the aftermarket moon roof.

My older ones are held up by wire arches. The hard back, one piece deal is faster.

My 89 is held up by the dome light and surrounding trim.

I got the old one out. It was glued to the roof and came out in chunks. I had to scrape some off the backing that was left behind w a putty knife.

I replaced one on my 2nd stang, still have it its a parts car now, headliner is still sticking. I got the fabric from a fabric shop and glued it in with spray adhesive. Use a putty knife or something flat to scrape all the loose foam off. Spray the adhesive to the fabric and the cardboard insert. Let it sit as long as it says on bottle, I think till it gets tacky. Then start on one side and roll it on to air pockets down. let it set up and your good to go. It would have been around 1998 when I did mine on a 86 4cyl

I replaced mine.

Pulled the original liner off the board. Went to fabric shop and got some black fabric for $5.

Went to Home Depot and got a can of 3M spray adhesive. (Super 77)

Sprayed the board and stuck the fabric to it and let it dry. They trimmed the fabric up and left a little hanging off the edgers and installed like oem.

Cost me under $20

Got it in for the most part.. Ran out of time to mess with it due to prior engagements and crappy weather but: Fit is so so, the holes that hold the sun visor on don't line up so think I'm going to have to use a self tapping screw in drill a new hole. I also had to trim the dome light hole on the headliner so the dome light would fit. The headliner itself isn't quite wide enough but it's not noticeable if you're not looking hard. I got it on sale for $135 from American Muscle. I would have been more disappointed if I would have paid the $199. It's ok just not great.
