firing order is different than a ho motor, so youll have to ask around but i dont think an ho would even work in that motor. im sure you could have found a used ho out of a wrecked mustang and had all those parts for close to 200 bucks.

venom - he's running a FRPP maf conversion - that means an HO computer.

I'd suggest just using the HO cam -- it's quite flexible and capable of supporting good power should you ever decide you want to upgrade heads/intake/exhaust further.

There's no need to get a new one from Ford -- hit the classifieds here and at the Corral.net. There are MANY of them - most times they're given away for shipping costs. And because they're rollers, you needn't worry about flat tappet break-in/matching lifters to lobes, etc. -- just a new set of roller lifters and away you go.

FRPP definitely DOES NOT have a direct replacement for the HO cam - For the 5.0L there's are all performance related, and most will absolutely KILL low end performance for one that's mostly stock like yours. Don't be pulled to the Dark Side (E, B, etc.).

Stock cam for 85-88 was 266/266 advertised duration, .444" lift with stock 1.6 ratio rockers; 89-95 was 276/266 and same lift as the other one. Despite the greater advertised duration on the intake side, the earlier cam is the desired one - although there's not a great deal of difference between the two.

Some tout the 'baby Crower' as a good replacement cam -- I think the number is 15510; alternatively the CompCams XE258 should be a good stock replacement cam. But with either, you're probably gonna need to go with something other than the stock E7 valve springs.

Those advertised duration numbers relate to duration at .006" lift -- the .050" duration numbers aren't published, but info from those who have measured say the stock cams are in the 210 degree .050" duration range.

If you stick with something that's in the 208-215 .050" duration range and with lifts at .500" or less; LSA in the 114 range - you should be happy with the results. Just be sure and get the appropriate valve springs to go with your cam choice.
