I'm gonna run probably right around the same power level, but with more timing and more fuel. Should also help the car from falling flat on its face in top of 3rd and 4th gear at the strip from too-hot IAT's making the tune retard timing. Total cost for EVERYTHING was only $468! :D Best part of this is that I just put in a leave of absence from work till the end of the college semester...so I got PLENTY of time to put this thing together :rlaugh:

Hehe, well I'm already making 423/408 non-intercooled with only 3.33" pulley...and even with less boost from pressure drop it's not going to lower my power levels any. The extra timing should put me right around 430-440rwhp on the same afr as my previous tune... I'm probably moving into a bigger house with my lady friend this summer, so my mod money will be severly restricted :( I do plan an MMR aluminum block 4.6l, bigger fuel system, and MPH head/custom ground cams if I am to keep the car. I'm looking to rev the motor out as high as possible (low compression, custom cam, big heads, oversized valves, and really stiff valve springs, hah). I have an aluminum kit for my MIG welder, so I might weld the pipes if need be...but I've TIG welded a little bit, which I could do at my buddies shop if I had to.

Hehe yeah 360 is kickass, I have the HD-DVD player to the right of it, but you can't really see it - everything is cluttered cuz I was gonna move it but had to stop when the boxes showed up :) TV is an Olevia 42" LCD :D Can't wait to play some more PGR3 and Forza2 (whenever it finally comes out lol).

Who me? Well I guess so haha. Dyno tune is scheduled for March 19th baby!!!!!!! cant wait :D

Also cant wait to see your #s benny! I say pulley down a bit and not mess with the timing  . Do you know how many *s your running right now?

I forget what the max timing is set to... I think 15* or so. I'm upgrading to SCT ProRacer soon, and also I have pretty much unlimited dyno time at my disposal, unlimited datalogging, and lots, and lots of time (well, I'm atleast gonna have it race ready to go by April/May!) :nice: More boost would just end up giving me similar results to what happened with the non-intercooled setup, can't cool the air, IAT's get to high, retards timing, falls flat on its face.

I got my BOV in the mail yesturday - thing is frickin huge! I still need to clean it up (guy I bought it from had it sitting in his garage for 6 months but never used it, hah), maybe polish the body too... I'm thinking about polishing up the blower while I'm doing all this too, maybe it's time for a little under the hood (at least) bling :nice:

BTW expect a detailed writeup on this project, including all cuts, screws, couplers and clamps - I wanna be as thorough as possible!

Well a few PSI would definatly not do that...your IC should still be able to maintain around a 30* rise even if you upped the boost another 5PSI. The inlet temps should only go up a few degrees @ WOT with 12PSI vs 8PSI.

And also remember that with this IC setup, the faster you go, the COOLER your IAT temps will be...more airflow= coller temps. So I still say pulley down :D. Its alot safer than bumping up the timing IMO...that timing is going to get you closer to detonation, and thats the killer of these engines.

With a few more #s of boost, as long as you add enough fuel to maintain 11-1 AF, it still should be very safe at your current timing. :flag:

Of course...but Tim told me to up the timing LOL :D Also, as far as timing goes, it's pretty conservative right now, I haven't messed with it, and Tim gave me a 91 tune instead of a 94 tune, which is what I run. I really don't wanna up the boost if I'm gonna be making the same power without the extra PSI...plus smaller the pulley the more belt slip - and I get no slip with my 3.33" pulley now...not feelin the $500 to upgrade to an 8-rib right now, hehe.

Well in that case up the timing :D . I didnt know Tims tune was still in there, nor did I know you had a 91 tune in it LOL. You have ALOT of room to go as far as timing is concerned before it becomes remotely unsafe....for some reason I thought you had bumped up your timing manually and retuned it with a leaner AF a while back  . Thats why I was for boost vs timing.

All I did last time was lean it up, didn't mess with the timing - still maintained an 11.5-11.6 with it as lean as the xcal2 would let it go!

Nice setup! similar to mine! I made 431 to the wheel@ 11 psi

Your trap speed in the 1/4 shows no where near 423 hp and you couldn't have shifted to early because you did a 12.5.

I trap 121 with 8 more hp on the dyno. I have been to the track twice in my life and when I was lifting to soon because I thought I was at the end, I still trapped 115. I have stock gears with stock suspension and a busted trac lol. I did add longtubes and fixed a small leak after the tune.

My freinds bolton 05 gt trapped 108 and did a 12.77 on stock tires.

When I ran a 3.3" pulley, powerpipe mac prochamber and cat back I made 381.
What do you have besides that to make 42 more hp? Dyno tools are great for tuning but aren't that accurate. You are talking rwhp correct?

I found this dyno sheet on you cardomain.

If im not mistaken he made a little over 400RWHP hot, then they let the car cool down and iced the blower...thats why it made 423. (I think I seen that in a vid of his on streetfire)

When hes actually on the street (especially @ WOT in 3rd and 4th) hes not making that much...MUCH closer to 400 I bet.

That's the old dynograph. I have full exhaust (LT,'s, o/r x, catback), tb/plenum, pulley, and tune, thats all as far as power goes. Here, I'll post the new one one sec...

You're most likely at a different altitude than me, probably closer to sea level... amirite? Guess my car is just stronger than yours :p Hehe, seriously though, I've had the blower on the car since 10k miles or so, so its pretty damn fresh :nice: how does my low trap speed on that pass mean I COULDNT have shifted into 4th too early??? I DID! LOL The trap speed is an average of the last w/e feet, I shifted too early and didn't hit the power band, simple as that. Tons of load + lots of heat + hardly any boost = slow LOL... Other passes that day I was trapping 115, best is 116. Alot of that has to do with being non-intercooled...

You are correct sir! The car was cold first pull, up to operating temp second pull, and third pull getting too damn hot. I had the dyno video on my site, but I'm over my 45gb bandwidth limit - too many people watching my fast car videos :bang: :owned:

EDIT: heres video of dyno http://videos.streetfire.net/video/f7941766-b2d3-4227-a282-98e201348bf2.htm might take a while for it to be up cuz it's "optimizing."

I'm not too sure how someone figures how how you shifted by looking at your trap speed, but you are correct Benny, there are a lot of variables. Altitude (DA) and so many other driver variables. You are also correct that the speed shown on the timeslip is not your actual speed, but the average speed over the last 66 feet.

Hotmustang331 is correct in pointing out your timing. If you truly only are running 15° of total timing (not timing advance) then you have a bunch of room for timing, especially now that you will be intercooled. What does your spark vs. MAF curve look like right now?

66ft, right, thoughts that what it was :D Not sure, I haven't data-logged since the last dyno, and the car has been put up since then.. I'll be doing a of test/tune at both the strip and on the dyno, though.
