I am looking for some good hoodpins to go along with my hood ill be ordering soon. My only requirements are that they be locking ones. I dont like the fact that people could just walk up and take them, or even open my hood if I can get the latch working right. And if you can find them with the plate black, that would be great too.

Now as far as my question about installing them... So you just drill a hole in the hood, and Im guessing they go into the bar by the radiator?

Yea I would put the pins in first and put some paint or something on them, close and drill from the bottom.

And ill have to check out trhe Mr. Gasket ones. I think I remember hearing that they sucked, but I might be thinking of something else.

And Im getting this hood.

i have the frpp hood pins and have never had a problem with people messing with my hood. But then again I don't park my car in bad areas. If anything, you can get some small locks to put on if ur going to be parked for awhile. I've heard the locking ones are flimsy....

I have the locking ones on my car but I will soon be changing to normal hood pins because the locking ones are made really cheap. The part that locks is really thin aluminum that you can bend with your hands so I don't think that at 100 mph that it will keep the hood down if my latch failed. I also don't like the fact that if I ever had a fire that I couldn't get the hood up in time because I would be messing with the keys to unlock it.

If you do get them, the install was really easy. I just took the hood adjuster off the core support and mounted the pins where the adjusters were. I didn't have to make any new holes in the core support. When you have them mounted, just press your hood down to see where they hit and drill your holes there. If you put them where the hood adjusters are then they come out perfect.

My hood kinda springs up when all the way down, so when its locked the springing of my hood holds it firm again the pin and I adjusted the locking part to pull the hood flush with the fenders.
