my mods are in my signature. and i have yet to get it tuned with the bigger injectors(dont have $$ right now) but i got on it hard a pretty good bit today jst to be doing it, and a few minutes ago i made a high speed pull and now it seems like its idling high and wont come down. i had it at about 5-5500 in fifth for about 30 seconds tops but it does catch (sometimes the rev limiter) high RPM's on take off's. did i hurt my engine? and i know i need a tune to be top notch but am i doing damage by running ti with-out a tune? im new to the whole 4.6 thing, been a 5.0 guy forever and i was am trying to figure out the limits of the modular motor, not that im gonna be pressing them all the time but it will get driven. and if it helps the short block has 84,000 miles and the p.i. swap components had 20,000 on the car they got pulled from.

what size injectors were pulled and what went in?

why the hell would you swap injectors with no tune?!?!?!?
thats one of the craziest things i've ever heard!!!
that would be like me saying "i just added 8 more pounds of boost and drove the crap out of my car, will it hurt anything?

GET IT TUNED BEFORE YOU GO WOT AGAIN!!!

you are adding too much fuel and can wash out the rings and then damage your bearings also. enggines dont like raw gas in the oil!

well thats the best way to test the structural integrety "limits" of the car at least, different sized injectors...why? cuz of the PI swap? Hopefully you just hurt its feelings, GL

huh? so im ok??? and all of the stuff was done to the car before i got it. should i put the stock 19's back in? i have them. have the stock mass air too. am i not benefitting from them? dont give me too much hell this is my first 4.6 and im just trying to figure these cars out. and what do you mean the structural integrity?

jesus christ!! i bought the damn car that way!! and if i had the money i would have it tuned. well is it ok to drive it normally until i can have iit tuned?

So what your saying is that the car has been driven like that for 20k without a tune since the PI and injector swap?

If so and it hasnt blown up yet then its probaly just OK to drive it untill its tuned. I wouldnt beat it though, and id get it tuned ASAP. Those larger injectors and bigger MAF are gonna throw things off. Normally neither one are swapped out for a PI swap.

I would worry just as much about pinning the gas in 5th at near redline for half a minute, thats incredibly stressful on any engine.

no the components for the swap came off of a car that had 20k and im not gonna do it no more i was just wondering if i might have hurt anything. and if i get a tune with the bigger injectors and mass air meter would it make better power over the stock injectors and mass air?

I doubt that you hurt anything, but I wouldn't try it again. If I were you, I would just put the stock injectors and MAF back on. Even with a tune, they wouldn't add enough power to warrant adding them without adding cams and/or ported heads. I think the stock injectors are good up to around 300 rwhp. You shouldn't even be close to needing bigger injectors yet! My $0.02!

Swap the stock stuff back in...I bet it will run a heck of alot better.

Absolutly NO reason for them to change the stock stuff out with aftermarket. They are just fine until you get some form of forced induction or go with a heads/cams setup. Stock stuff was good enough for my car when it was @ 292RWHP (344 at the crank) N/A BTW.

And the bigger maf is probably counteracting the injectors some...so I doubt your doing anything but just running sortof rich. A Vipers WOT A/F is around 10.0-1 and they are fine, so yours shouldnt be near that rich...

Ah gotcha...:nice:

Just trying to make sure I got it straight.

It should just be running rich, which a little rich wont hurt but if your dumping alot of gas in like SaleenGT said you could be washing the bearings, diluting your oil and so on. Take a quick whiff of some oil on the dip stick, a little gas smell is normal but if its over powering then thats a sign.

As far as making more power with the aftermarket MAF and injectors... im not 100% sure. Im sure you could dial them in with eachother but I dont think you are moving enough air for both of those to give a real benefit.

ok, i appreciate it guys. i guess i will swap the mass air meter and injectors back in this weekend.
