Hey guys, well i've decided to bite the bullet and do my engine. I've modifyed almost everything else on my car so i have nothing else to do. I drop off my engine on Monday and it will be bored to a 306 w/ forged internals, polished crank, new pistons, connecting rods, Cooked and painted block, new frost plugs, and pretty much everything else. As for the top end.... well heres the list, and i'm also doing rearend, and tranny and other little stuff. I'll be posting up pics when i get the block back and as i start the build up. Right now i just have some of the tear down pics. Hope you enjoy! I never thought tearing down a engine and tranny would be so much fun, besides the some of the bolts that are a bitch, its actually really fun!

The automotive shop thats doing my engine estimated around 350 hp. That about right you think?

He says it'll be about 3 weeks and my bottom end will be down. That gives me time to get everything else painted and together.

After its the engine is put back together its getting dyno tuned, then when its in the car i'm bringing it back to dyno it to get the rwhp #'s! Can't wait!

The comp cam i'm putting in is made for a supercharged application, and yes your thinking yours isn't supercharged? But coming this winter there will be a Kenne 2.2 Flowzilla on top of the beatiful engine! So thats why i'm doing everything right the first time. Forged internals and everthing!

Few Q's
What therm stat should i put in it? My car runs about 160. Should i put in a 160 or a 180?

My stock engine mounts are shot, and with all the extra horse i dont want replacement stock rubber ones cause i'll rip them apart. Any suggestions?

Any suggestions what i should do about the stock computer? What to upgrade it to?

I'll snap some photos of when the engines done, and getting dynoed tuned, and when its on the dyno, and the rebuild and everything else. Not sure if your interested or not but oh well ha.

Thats all for now

Get a 180* T-stat...160* is too low.

Stock replacement motor mounts are fine with what you are building and doing. I run a similar combo with 170k miles on my motor mounts:)

Your stock computer will work just fine as well:)

Well see, the engine builder(who does a **** load) race cars and everything. Says that the engine mounts won't last with the amount of twist from the torque. Then when i supercharge it it'll be pushing 500hp +. So then they deffinetly won't last.

I don't think you'll hit 500hp,and if you do say bye bye to the block.

Why only the 165s, those flow pretty low for a s/cedcombo. Want to give em tome??

And aren't you 17? I'm17 and can't afford $HIT!! lol I can barely afford to fill my bottle tomorrow.

and I think around 300hp to the wheels would be attainable.

Trust me, it will be fine and make your times in the car more comfy, with the stockers or stock replacements.

Mine have held up just fine with 170k when it was a daily driver...

But it's your money, but I'm telling you it isn't needed...and I'm as picky as the next guy and that is one of the last things I would do;)

Looking good so far...:nice:

I got a deal on them and they are brand new. Couldn't turn them down. Plus i can always upgrade its not a problem. But for now they'll do. Yes i'm 17, be 18 tomorrow ha. July 1st. I work full time at my dads Truck Asc. business. I put in between 35-40 hours a week even when i was in school. Now i'm putting in 40-50 per week now that im graduated. And i dont pay any taxes, ss, or ANYTHING! so every dollar i make is what i get.

got to break in that new motor for 500 miles or you will not seat the rings. Dont beat on it, break it in slowly or your motor mounts will surpass your engine life!!

Looks like you hit the lottery, save some money for gas!!

Yes i know, i have to drive it like a granny for awhile. I'm also putting in a new centerforce dual friction clutch, so i'll have to drive it that way anyways! Gas mileage is not a concern to me, its a mustang right?!

Well my car has 80k on it, and my stock orignal motor mounts are all torn up, I'll get pictures tomorrow and post them! They are shot, and if they can't handle stock, then they won't last in my car after the build and supercharger!

5 spd GT is right, and we've both had the AFR combo you're building. When I turbocharged my engine, I took out the motor mounts and put solids in. I didn't notice any harshness with them, but then again, turbochargers use really really mild cams.

Stock motor mounts are the way to go for your combo.... buy the solids if you just feel like spending extra.
