Electric Fan setup for supercharged car

This winter Iam replacing my radiator for a Alum 2 row and have been looking into electric fans also. So far the pullers that seem like they would work for me are the ramcharger, derale dual fan, and spal two fan setups. Each are 3500 cfm+. Then I started thinking about a PUSHER fan instead...Iam planning on completely removing my AC also, so the condensor will be gone. If I just put two fans in front of the radiator will I be blocking to much of the radiator? Any pusher fan that I run will be 1800+ cfm so it will be atleast 3600 cfm total. Flexalite seems to make afew nice units that dont look like they will block to much to me, part numbers #FLX-116 and #FLX-392. If I run pushers they will also free up alot of room in the engine bay. Any input is welcome, thanks.

I would not run a push style fan for the obvious reasons:)

I would think it would be safer to go with the traditional, tried & true pull set-up:nice:

I plan on going with the 3018 trimmed fan from Brian Baskin once I scrounge up some money. I'm sure you have thought about DCC:shrug:

However, I think those fans you mentioned won't have much trouble:)

What exactly are the obvious reasons though? To me it looks like they would flow very well, I donno just wanted to do something different and clear up the engine bay!

DO NOT GET A PUSHER!!!!! I had one on my 86gt, it wouldnt get cool, I changed it back to a puller in about an hour after that. I had it set up for a pusher and it got to about 220 and stayed there!! I swapped it back to stock and it dropped to 185!! Ive always liked the stock units, they flow alot of air, and e-fans are just too much of a pita for me, especially with a fox, cuz then you have to up grade the alt, then re do the wiring, run wiring, just not worth it to me, and my stock fans have always kept it just as cool as an efan........

But was that with 1 fan? Iam talking 2 that will prob total around 4000 cfm which is quite abit...If you look at the fans Iam talking about they dont block much at all, no more then a condensor would.

The impediment to ambient flow is what David was probably talking about (with pushers).

:nice:

It blocks air from the outside of the car. I imagine what you want (correct me if I'm wrong), is the radiator to do the job on the interstate without much need of a fan. Then let the fan 'remove' the heat from the radiator at idle or low speed conditions.

If you put the fan in front of the radiator, it will have to 'work' at highway speeds and at idle/low speeds.

Just a thought, but I'm sure there is more to it than that, and someone will correct me, because like you said the condensor probably blocks some air too...

Its your preference, but ive had bad luck with those, especailly with a blown car, I would do every thing possible to keep it cool, If you found a couple fans low profile enough, to slide in and clear the blower do that, it would let nature do more work for you and make it easier on the car imo...

I think what I may end up doing is possibly getting a set of fans that can push and pull and try it the way I want to start with, if it doesnt work Ive just put them in the engine bay.
