Alright, in a few months im planning to get the HP Performance Stage 1 turbo kit. gonna run low boost, gonna be a relatively stock motor, nothing but UDP's and a Upper and lower Trickflow intake and Flowmaster exhaust. i got a few questions:

Im running a T-5 and a brand new Ram Clutch setup...should it be fine?

ive got 3.73's right now, im planning to step it down to 3.55's so that its way more manageable on the street...sounds good?

The kit will be installed on a fairly stock motor. The car is my daily driver. Itll prolly see a dragstrip a couple of times only. I plan to add a bigger oil pan ( for more oiling capacity) a main stud girdle, and a windage tray. I figure these mods will keep the stock block together.....sound good?

Also, any advice will be mucho appreciated :) Oh, this is going on my 93 LX 5.0

There is no guarantee the T-5 or the Ram clutch will hold…so it's truly going to be a wait and see affair. T-5's are a problem child when it comes to pushing more torque than factory through them…and a clutch that has a little give to it can be beneficial in getting them to survive.

If your going to swap gears, put in some 3.27's. More than likely, you'll be able to find someone willing to trade their stockers straight up for the 3.73's. The 3.27's will help you spool the turbo's up quicker and is a great all around gear for a turbo setup. It will also allow you to get those rpms back down to normal levels for freeway driving.

The stock oil pan will suit your needs just fine…and there really is no need for a windage tray. Really, the only thing you may want is a stud girdle…and all that will do is help keep the block from completely breaking in two when the block breaks.

BTW, that slowmaster exhaust is going to cost you some horsepower and slow down the turbo's spool. Your going to want to look into a straight through muffler setup to keep the exhaust backpressure to a minimum.

I have that kit and been running it for 4 years. I started off with a stock block with 30K miles, broke it on the dyno first pull, but it was because we had the boost controller set wrong and it spiked 17lbs. After the new motor @ 10lbs. of boost we drove through a king cobra clutch on the dyno, I put in a Spec stage 3 plus that lasted about 5K miles, the stock T5 lasted about 5K miles the rearend was on a one wheel peel after about 5K miles. I went with the larger oil pan and windage tray. One VERY important thing to get is an Aeromotive air/fuel meter(it is very accurate) please do yourself a favor. If you set the thing up like HP tells you timing locked out @20 degrees and you know where you are on the boost controller and tour air fuel ratio you'll be alright. I wouldn't run more than 10lbs. boost. I went with the exhaust HP recommended which is Mac, normally I would never have bought Mac but I am glad I did. The guy that i dynoed with is one of the largest installer of Kenne Bell's in the U.S. and he was blown away with what we made for power. He claims the best he can do with the Bell is 14-16 rwhp/lb. of boost and we made 25rwhp./lb.of boost with that turbo. If you have any questions just P.M. me. Oh yea my #'s were made with the DSS 331 super pro bullet level 20 race prep block stock GT 40 heads and stock Cobra intake, I have since switched to Hogan upper and Trick-Flow lower, haven't been back to the dyno yet but I can feel the difference. Oh yea I'm running the 3.55 gear and that seems good, it spools up fine. Good Luck,Terry.
