I would jack it up, grab the wheel top and bottom and see how much movement you get that way (Ball Joints, loose strut mount bolts maybe).
Grab the wheel left side and right side and see how much movement you get that way (Tie rod ends or rack)
If you can get someone else to do those movements while you get a look behind the wheel, I think you'll see exactly what's going on. Block the car up good. Just using a jack without stands is like puttin' you head in a lions mouth.
Since you said you torqued to 100 lb/ft, if you shake it while looking at the lug nuts, you won't see the wheel moving on the studs. It will appear as if it was one unit.
