Hello,
I just added a 90 GT to my family. This car replaces an 86 LX 5.0L Vert which got totaled by the insurance company. It is a nice looking car with 18 year old car issues. (Image attached) The person I bought the car from swaped the engine with a rebuilt unit from a wrecked GT Hatch.
Issues I have so far deal with the Tranny. I do not have any Speedo functions so I am assuming its the cable. With that being said here is what happens. The tranny shifts early and is very stubborn down shifting. Since this is a AOD-E I am assuming my questions are as follows.
1. Does the Tranny use the transducer to know how and when to shift? If so, how can I tell if its bad?
2. If this is like the tranny on the 86 and uses a cable, how then can i check to see if that cable is adjusted correctly? I am assuming since the engine swap that maybe this cable is not adjusted.
