You are putting too much thought into all of this
If you stick with ped rockers ... which all OEM iron heads run
You'll be fine with the OEM vc's

cause
There are several options of rr's which will fit
You can even go to the 1.72 ratio with the OEM Crane Cobra rr's
NOW
If you wanna go stud mount
then
The stud sticks up too high for the OEM vc's
Fox body vc's work great cause they allow more room yet keep a low profile
OEM and TFS upper intakes sit closer to the lower intake
than
Those offered in the Edelbrock line of intakes
You see a lot of peeps go for the less cost of TFS over Edel's
Then again ... with the TFS offerings ... you usually need a spacer
where as
With the Edel offerings ... you can get by without a spacer a lot of the time
I guess you gotta add up the difference with each choice and see
how it prices out with each option
I used Fox body vc's with my AFR 165's, Scorpion 1.6 stud mount rr's,
and Edel RPM intake and neeeded no spacer
I did have to modify the oil splash baffle and filler neck a bit
It was nothing too serious and only required plain old common sense
to clearence things as needed
Bottom Line is
When you run the SN tb setup ... you have to keep a low profile on
your choice of vc or you most likely are gonna have to use a spacer
Tons and Tons of threads have been done on the VC issues here
and on all the other Stang sites :Word:
There is no way you could NOT find ... specific ... info on any brand
of rr you might be thinking about using
Hope this helps or gives you some ideas to think about
