fr500 replicas I guess, I think they are an awesome looking wheel, but they dont seem to come any narrower than 17x9...would this even work up front?(assuming 1 inch spacers) also...they come in different widths for the back...suggestions for maximum rear width without and mods like tubbing? has anyone used these on their classic?

Thats not going to fit on a 66.

I really don't think those would look that great on a classic, I'm not even fond of them on the SN95s. Maybe I just don't like that style of rim in general....

This isn't my car but here's a 68 with those wheels. It was posted in one of my threads a few years back.

I'm putting 17x9s on my 66. I'm going to do a 1" flare front and back. You'll have to space it out to get your 4.75" of backspacing. For example, my 17x9s have 6.12 bs. I'm using 1.5" spacers bringing the bs down to 4.62".

I have to say that those wheels look awesome on a black mustang.

thats what I was thinking....since my mustang will be black...as far as backspacing goes...I am installing a mustang II front suspension, which has shorter spindles...not sure how this will affect wheel fitment yet....but I would love to run this wheels

p.s. are those fr500s 17s? for some reason they look a bit big...I may want to drop to 16s instead if that's how big 17s are, they kinda look like they are 18s at least out back

Ok, I'll admit, those do look good on a black Mustang.

I just don't see those rims/tires going on the car without rubbing big time. Definately will need to flair the rear quarter. I'm not sure how the MII setup will affect backspacing, I'm actually interested to hear. Reenmachine would provably know.

I just bolted the 17x9s on my 66 today and the fronts of course stick out 1" with the spacers. I mocked up the IRS and the wheels out back also stick out about 1" without spacers. I think maybe with a 67-70 rear end the wheels would tuck a little more and clear back there.

they stick out without the spacers? I thought the point of the spacers was to push them out toward the outside of the fender...for wheels that have that much backspacing anyway...can you post some pics for a visual, I'm kinda confused now

The Cobra IRS is 2" wider per side, or 4" longer overall compared to a 65/66 Mustang rear end. So, given that and the deep offset of the 17x9s, I didn't need wheel spacers in the rear. I didn't take any pics yet but looks something like this:
