i have a new heater core in my car. i was not getting heat out the vents. both lines were hot at the firewall. so i was told i either had some clogging or an air bubble in there.

so today i went to remove my lines off the firewall, and it ripped one of the fittings out the heater core. is this ruined? can you mend the fitting?

i put it back together and it was slowly leaking from the fitting that did not come out. they both wobble around pretty loosely, but the one will pull out and push in further then it use to.

am i doing another heater core or do i have another option?

im reading some how to's on installations.

sounds like this is a common problem with heater cores and no bracing to them? god dammit, so i have to replace the f'ing core again.

if you really wanted to keep from replacing it you could just loop the hoses togethor, but your heat isnt gonna work

i already bypassed it last night. the car is just a toy for me, but i've been battling heat/vents not working/surging idle over and over.

the probles keep coming back over and over. so i might just wear a coat when i drive it for awhile. although cold weather is coming soon, and ill need atleast defrost.

a real man defroster is a rag :nice: but seriously i would fix the surging idle stuff first as thats probably all vacuum related, and could be related to why your vents arent working

yea, i made plans to knock out a heater core this weekend.

i got the dash vents to work last night after the heater core was trashed. i made another thread regarding the yellow-line vacuum canister. i took the gauge cluster out and had my girlfriend hook up the line :nice: my hands were too big to fit in there.

my surging idle started with a bad alternator, then stopped. then started again, bad mass air meter. replaced it and it idled great. now it idles fine as im coming to a stop, which it never did consistantly for this long.

it will surge on cold starts, hot starts and if its been sitting @ idle from coming to a stop for 30 + seconds. iac is clean, tps is set, maf is new/clean, new alt charging properly, all vac lines connected, cleaned salt/pepper shaker connections, its all grounded properly, fused power wire off alt. i dont know anymore.
