back to basic basics. i was under the impression intake manifold was the way to go for a stock gt. then ppl started saying no thats adding tq not hp. then ppl said go with a chip. then no chip wont do anything without mods first. i need my car to be a dd so i cant do so much S*** that i get 3 mpg. i kinda need to stay where im at and get just enough more hp where im like " you got a stock motor

you dont want it". so question
would an intake manifold add that first little bit of noticable hp? and how much hp? and what kind is the best? .
and if the chip is worth it for the mpg that it bumps you up by (2-4 im told but hey 26 mpg is better than 23). please dont talk cam, porting, 351w, ---> h/c/i <--( honestly i dont even know what that means) until the question posed has been highlighted. thank you and
Here is the deal with trying to help peeps who have little or no experience
when it comes to extracting more power from their Stang
They have nothing to reference to

or
You could say ... Their basic questions all boil down to .......
Whats it gonna be like when I bolt on all those hot rod parts
Me and wifee took trip and my little GT pulled 19mpg at a cruise of
80mph and that even included me showing a punk kid in a Camero my
horizontal t-lites who kept pestering us. I let off just past the century
mark so you know that had to suck a good bit of 93 Grade
I have no doubt at slower speeds it would get over 20mpg
So you see ... Good mileage with all that stuff I did
Now ... here is the rest of the story
Around town ... it really does suck down the fuel

but
I really don't care as I built it for a weekend toy only
Said all that to show ..........
If you can think long term and share that with everybody
They will give different advice based upon what you ask
Just as there was more to the fact ... I can pull 20mpg +
I'm gonna try and tell you .............
There is more ... WAY MORE to ........ just a bit more power :Word:
I think you are wise to see the significance of you got the confines
of dealing with a daily driver
btw ... h/c/i means heads cam intake manifold
With a daily driver and staying NA and a stick trans
I'd go along these lines .........
First mod would be 373's
Second mod would be an intake with the longest runner uppers such
as OEM Cobra, TFS Street Heat, Edel Performer
Third mod would be LT's and doing away with the restrictive OEM 4
cat mid pipe
To do all the above you DO NOT need a throttle body, or meter or inj's
A set of pulleys would boost up your torque

all the way across the power band
An ignition will do nothing for you
Roller rockers ... even an increased ratio of like 1.7 .........
dont expect but about 5 rwhp
so
the gain to buck spent is not too good
I just don't see a chip doing much for you in power or gas savings
You could swap mod 2 and 3 with no probs
I would go LT's over shortys because .......
Contrary to popular beliefe ... They hang no lower than shortys

They'll give you more low end and mid range torque than shortys
Go back to that chart and look at all those peeps with OEM
heads and cam to get an idea of what can be done
anywho ..........
With this method you won't need to tune the pcm
and
You can still use the OEM tb, meter, and inj's
but
You should upgrade the intank fuel pump cause the OEM pump is tiny
Here is a little example of what you would have with such a combo
Think of passing water down a 75 foot section of hose
You can pass more with 3/4 as opposed to 1/2 inch
With the above combo your intake and exhaust would be 3/4 inch
but
With the OEM heads and cam ... Well ... they be only 1/2 inch
but
If you find yourself wanting more
You can always take out the smaller section of 1/2 inch hose in the
middle by upgrading heads and cam thus making the entire combo
3/4 inch all the way which would mean more power
See ... All you gotta do is just ..........
hose around ... with stuff to start making more power
