All I can say today is that as good as this crap (the right stuff) has stuck to every nook, crevice, and hiding place on my hands,..(and won't seem to wash off with anything,...including solvents) I hope it does the same sealing that access panel I made for the top of the tank.
Let me tell you what kind of idiot I am.....
I drain that tank,...remove it, and then fill it with water so that the cutoff wheel sparks won't ignite the residual gas and fumes...
Smart.
I cut a large rectangular hole in the top of a gas tank.
Dumb.
I make a sealing flange out of 1/16 aluminum flat bar, and goop, and rivet that flange to the cut piece.
Dumber.
I slide the plate around on top of the tank,..trying to position the now flanged plate so that it sits back in the hole it was cut out of.
I drill and rivet that plate on top of the tank,..and then seal that plate w/ the right stuff. I let it dry overnight.
Dumber still.
I install the tank and screw the return and the vent lines back on the tank.......They don't seem to be oriented the same way that they came off. The sender wires don't reach.
I have managed to put the plate that I cut off just hours before on backwards......
Drooling, slobbering Idiot.
It's there now,...and I ain't changing it. I had enough slack built into everything that I only had to cut wire ties to get the wires long enough to work,....but I tell ya,...The stupid sht I do.....
