Craigslist Interaction...am I Right Or Wrong On This?

It's first one to my door with cash. I don't hold anything for anyone anymore. I've had people say they're on the way, and never show up.

I had a 1998 Camaro V6 for sale some years back (wife's car). We listed it for $700 just to get rid of it. It had a shattered RF fender, RR quarter panel was dented from sliding into a pole, but overall it ran really good. Not one phone call for a week. We raise the price to $1000, phone starts ringing. Sold the car for $800. People are just weird.

If you have a chair or something you want to get rid of for free, put it on the sidewalk with a $20 price tag and it'll disappear within hours. If you put a sign that says "free", it'll sit there.

Sadly I've done this. Free just sits there. Put $5 or $10 and it's usually gone the first night.

That's so **** up! Not that it gets "stolen," -- well, that's the expected kind of **** up -- but that people won't take it unless they feel like they're stealing it. lol

Many years ago I did an oil change and left the portable oil catch jug in the driveway because in intended to take it to autozone to dump the next day.

Came home from work to grab it....and it was gone! A cheap Walmart oil catch can with 6 quarts of oil in it....gone.

Wasn't even a bad neighborhood.

Me: Lists mustang parts with prices set on craigslist
Potential buyer: What parts do you still have?
Me: All parts still available.
PB: Are prices still the same?
Me: Negotiable, what do you need?
PB: List of parts needed.
Me: Still available, make an offer.
PB: I think it might be best if you set a price.
Me: Prices are listed in add
PB: Ok, I'm good thank you for your time

Me: Wants to pistol whip you and a baby seal for wasting my time you POS!!

You spelled "ad" wrong so your argument in invalid. :P

Had a rusted out but running/driving Chevy pickup that I listed on CL as a parts/project truck for $500 and got zero inquiries. I start listing individual pieces and clear $1200 parting the thing out.

Makes you wanna go all bill engvall on them:
Add: Mustang for sale no engine or transmission
Caller: can I test drive it?
Seller: yep, I installed pedals, you pedal it around the block
Bring your own sign
Caller: huh?
Actually got that question on a car with no powertrain once.

Had one this weekend. Was selling some collectibles that I buy and sell. Put together a nice little package and put a killer price tag on it. Some guy messaged me for hours with questions and wanting it cheaper and wanting to cherry pick parts, another guy messaged me, asked 2 question and purchased it with a please and thank you, the first guy spent the next hour upping his offer to well over my asking price trying to get it. Play stupid games win stupid prizes man...

my favorite saying of all time

I have sold a LOT of CL stuff.

Had a 25' boat for free. It was a mess but I just wanted to avoid cutting it up. Had a half dozen people look at it with insane expectations. I finally posted that I would only show the boat if you came with a trailer to tow it away. I will be in this parking lot at this time, if I see a truck and trailer you can follow me. If not, you will never know that I was there. The first guy who agreed had a truck and trailer. We backed that trailer under the boat, didn't give him the option. He took the boat and about 3000 lbs of crap (car parts, other boat parts etc) we had. Guy seemed happy about it too!

Had another guy. I was selling marine carpet. I had paid $400-500 for it. Asking like $250. Had someone text an offer of like) $150, which I told him $200 was the lowest I would go. He never responded. A few weeks later I get a text asking if the carpet was still for sale. I said it was and he said, great I'll take it. He meets at 8:00 AM Sunday morning. Sees it, and says great here's the money... $150. I asked him what this was. He tried to explain how "we agreed to that earlier offer". I pulled up the texts and read them to him. He ended up finding an ATM nearby and paying me $200... some people are turds!

I've told folks many times it was no longer for sale to them at any price. I would have done that if a guy showed up with less than agreed upon. I hate being manipulated in a disrespectful way. If you can out negotiate me, good on you. But, if you resort to dishonesty or general flakiness, then go to hell. Lol. If a buyer actually starts getting under my skin, it is just not worth it. I don't make a living doing it.

I can relate pretty to all these stories lol. Latest one though agh, Basically was selling a upr k, a arms, cc plates, coilovers, Lakewood struts all barely used for crack head price of $350 and had this guy give me all kinds of crap over how none of that is worth this and that. He told me the moly k member wasn't work $150 on a good day. I told him then move on. In came the sob stories about how he needs these and it would change his life for the good blah blah. No, so then he explains he'll be straight with me and that he buys and sells parts all day long in bulk. So I need to take less so he can make money off reselling the parts. I told him i'd sell it all to him for $200 and where to meet and never met up with him lol. I mean it happens to me all the time people no show and waste my time and this guy had already wasted my time. Now I see the toolbag on facebook selling pages and pages of really nice stuff and have to wonder how many people this toolbag has screwed over with his stories.

I've dealt with a few of them. They make it a business reselling parts so they are aggressive in knocking the price down. They make you feel bad and then turn around and jack up the price when they flip it.
