What he said. To my knowledge, ceramic coating creates more of a heat barrier than plain powder coat. Im no expert though.

Technically you never said what type of coating you are having put on them. You just said, dropping them off at the powder coating dude, and chose silver for the color. Made me assume you were having them plain powder coated. From what I read, plain powder coating will not hold up on automotive headers.

So then.....You are assuming that I don't know the difference between touching a hot valve cover, and touching a hot exhaust header with my finger then?
Are you Doing like Noobz does, and Evelyn Woodhead Sped Redding my threads now?:dammit:

Dropped the header off at the powder coat dude...I chose Silver as my color. I wanted it shiny, but it looks like it's gonna have the same flat characteristic that I've always seen in a high heat situation. ( Except Collins)
I'm having a high heat coating applied to the headers...I just cant seem to find the difference between what I'm having done, and what is considered Ceramic coated.
When you buy a set of cera-kote headers they are typically very shiny. The coating I'm have applied will be flat. It was the same thing when I had Jet-Hot do my turbo exhaust on the Blue/Black Conquest I built in 2004. It looks like Jet hot is gonna charge over 400.00 to do what I'm having done for 240.00...
I'm gonna call the guy today and get some clarification on all of this.

Im not nearly as good at finding whitty pics and GIFs to clog this toilet with.
Aww nonsense....Don't sell yourself so short. Most of the pics that Noobz finds and posts are far from witty..and Make little to no sense as to why he posted them,...

I'm sure that you could find something if you tried..

Is there high temp coating rated for the kinda heat the future turbo is gonna make :D

Ok then....just talked to the powder coat dude.

The high heat product he uses is ceramic based..so,....I'm guessing I'm staying with him. In lieu of my decision to paint the engine copper, I had him change the color back to black. All that's left to do now is wait.

Didnt realize you were painting the block copper. Here I thought we were just talking about the inside of the intake box. That should be a sweet looking set up all said and done.

Edit: Until all your oil leaks start up again, that is.

Take Dave's advice and get everything copper plated!!!! Chip Foose hasn't even done that (afik). A copper plated engine with 6 copper plated itb in a copper plated box with a copper tinted (like the Apollo astrounaut's face shields (maybe that's gold)) glass cover! You just need that sales job commission to kick in big time! But you can work harder for our enjoyment can't you?

While you're at it, might as well copper plate the expensive lounger's base to match.

There's a reason that chip Foose hasnt done that yet, and here's a hint for you..

It isn't because he doesn't have the money..

I'm gonna paint the tops of the flat surfaces a textured black, and everything else will be copper............paint.

Geeze, Nooobz posts are the only ones I really understand.....I spend hours trying to figure out CMA's stuff. Hours and hours and hours. Its not hard to do to stay to 18 hrs. Städtele hinaus.....

..:thinking::doh:

But I really like the potty references, 95BlueStallion.

I'm from the still afiliated to British Isles colonial place, so William Crappers invention and being able to say "Toilet" in a forum without it auto-Korrecting to "Bathroom" is blQQdy sensational really. Well done. Good Sh!+.

No one got my Toyota verses Chevrolet reference. Toyolet.

Because I 'm a crap speller and I spelt it wrong....

Today is diversion topic day. Today, I'll divert from the main topic (the car) to what's happening with me. Before we return back to worlds longest build thread.

Awhile back, I talked about converting from Genius into sales. It was Jan 1 MOF. After talking with the local Chrysler Jeep dealership at the end of our road, I was seriously considering jumping off the whole BMW brand as well.

But my co-workers talked me into staying,..."Why throw away your knowledge of the brand when it will come to serve as your "ace in the hole" If you start selling?" was the argument.
So I went to the GM, told him I wanted to sell, and that I want/needed more money and negotiated a "training salary" of 4k x 2 months to get me familiar with the process before going to straight commission after that.

Then sat around waiting on the GM to hire my replacement.

And waited through the end of January, and through the whole month of February, all the while never seeing one applicant come into his office for an interview. It was like there was no sense of urgency, and that they'd consider replacing me when they got around to it, all while they required that I remain in my current status.

Well,....that changed yesterday........I took another sales job with a different manufacturer in our complex.
Only now it'll be Italian cars instead of German ones.

My company doesnt know it yet, this just happened last night. I still have to go through the pre-lims to be truly "hired" by the Alfa Romeo/Maseratti/Fiat dealership. But I can't imagine anything stopping it from happening.

It's a lesser volume, higher commissions alternative to selling a BMW. It's a brand new facility instead of the run-down neglected one I work in now. Instead of selling cars named by a number and a letter, I'll sell cars named after a woman, and a road.
Their SUV is built on the same platform as the car, and is named after a twisty mountain pass in the Italian Alps...( Stelvio) Only the little coupe that looks like an old Lotus gets a number and a letter for a name...( 4c)

The irony of this whole thing is that the sales mgr here comes to me last night with a pile of resumes...these are the applicants competing for my job. I am in essence choosing my replacement...only they don't know it yet.

I'm optimistic, and hopeful. I'm up for the change.

I shouldve been born 40 years later....Millenials are the ones with the "job jumper" rep.

Except for the Quattroporte. Which is just Italian for "four door". English is such a boring language.

Oh how the mighty have fallen....Car Salesman. The most despised profession going. By far the most un-trusted profession going. I thought you were better than that. Have you actually looked into what will be required of you to do this "job". Ask any person off of the street what they think of a car salesman, and that is how you will be viewed. I hope you can live with that. I would not. Good Lord, you have far far better skills than to sink to this level of debauchery. Yikes.....

Damn man.

I can think of plenty worse jobs that employ above-average pricks... TSA agent, elevator installer, autozone employee, people who work at off road shops...

That view of car salesman is somewhat warranted, admittedly.

On the other hand there have been ones like my grandpa that took being a salesman as a craft.

He sold fords from the early teens until he retired in 1973ish.

It’s like most fields out there, you can be a hack at anything, but there are very few that will put in the effort to be the best in their profession. Those few are recognized as such and are desired for employment at most companies.

The exception to the rule will thrive and do it comfortably.

Now, there is an exception to the exception. Furniture salesman....just sayin’
