The old EFi intake looked pretty much the same as the best NISMO RB26DETT intakes, but for the single 3-1/2" inch throttle body.

Just thinking out load....

Room to have two 3-1/2 by 4-1/4 by 25 inch intercoolers an one giant slot into that aquarium ITB cover?.

From my old study work with the 1981-1984 Nissan Bluebird 910 Turbo, a factory 1.8 liter car with about 150 hp that ended up making 600 hp under boost as a Group C racer car in 1984.

All it ended up using to get that was one T03 60 turbo with a T04 axle and impellor and one 3-1/2 by 4-1/4 by 25 inch intercooler and 30 psi boost.

Similar examples of the intercooler could be thin enough to lay on top of the rocker cover.

No intercooler Dean...No big boost numbers either, and it was a single 70mm tb metering that air.

The decision to go back to forced induction was purely because I inadvertently changed a fun to drive, fast car into a slow, noisy
Anemic version of itself.

Call it my inability to count past 10, call it my intolerance for boredom....but when I used to have to immediately push through first gear to keep the engine off the rev-limiter, and instead now feel like I could read a book waiting for 5k rpm to occur in 3rd gear, it's wheezer time again.
The previous turbocharger combo felt lazy in 3rd gear comparatively even while in boost, but in retrospect, at least it accelerated and pulled. i know I'm callus in this regard because I sit in 400-600 hp cars daily with 7-8 speed transmissions, and in comparison the 4R70w 3rd gear is pretty tall...and a 250 with a 37 year old head isn't exactly on par with a twin turbo'd 3L M3.

The one check and balance that I have to remember is simple...

It's a street car.

A 3rd gear pull in boost "quickly" exceeds 80-100 MPH at 12 psi. It was this logic that sold me on the premise that the opportunities to experience that only existed on an interstate on ramp, and it was one of the reasons for the turbo sell off before.

In other words...what is the point of having more power than you can realistically use in normal driving other than bragging rights?

So,..no intercooler,..only one inlet going into that air box, no more than 12-15 psi...and whatever it is, it is.

I know one thing...whatever it is..it'll be far better than it just was.

Details man! We need details!
Whadya talkin' about?

There's no details,...because I never said I was working on anything. It doesn't matter that there is actual written copy preceding this reply. Hell, there may even have been a "audio tape" of me saying something about it. That just doesn't matter.

I'm saying I didn't say it, and that's that. Ill have my ugly female bulldog spokes-puppet formally confirm that the car is sitting in the garage, exactly the way it was 3 months ago...just waiting on me to get around to it.

But after looking at the transcripts,.....I coulda said something....or maybe you heard/read it wrong, or maybe it was some 400 pound guy sitting in his underwear in his mom's basement that said it..Believe me when I tell you, there is nobody that wants to do this more than me,..and nobody better qualified to do it either. PERIOD!

:nonono:

It's been a long time since my wife tore my ass up over something I did that was just too stupid to do...

Kinda like me drinking.....for whatever reason, seems like every 6-9 months I forget that I can't tolerate too much of it...and I pay dearly for it.
Tonight, the 3 pieces that make up the hot, and cold side piping are done. All of the holes are drilled, all of the pieces have been ground smooth, and all of the pieces have been painted using VHT's ceramic coat high heat paint. This stuff has to be heat cured like powder coat to give the finish a very hard, solvent resistant finish. You're supposed to bake this stuff at 250 for 30 minutes, and let it cool for 30. Then again at 400 for 30, and again let it cool for 30. Finally you're supposed to turn the heat up to 600 for 30, then let it cool for 30.

Tonight, as I'm sitting here, fumes from the first bake stage are starting to fill up the house, reminding me of how bad I'm gonna hear it when the wife gets home tomorrow. ( there,...the timer just went off...30 minutes cool time now)

Why do I do such stupid sht?......

I-I-I-I don't know rightly...maybe the paint fumes have compromised my sense of right and wrong. Maybe I'm dain bramaged from breathing countless ounces of metal grinding dust over the many years of doing this,...maybe it's simply because I'm a guy.....Regardless of the causes of my irrational thinking,..those cakes are bakin'....

I'm only gonna do the 400 degree cycle and be done...the oven just gets too freakin hot when set to 550, and not only will I have paint fumes to deal with, but the AC system will be running overtime trying to cool this place down.........just spreading those fumes all over the place...

Yummy.

Mike, I bought my oven for powder coating off of craigslist for $30. Another lady offered hers free after I got back home from getting the paid for unit. I feel like you could make use of an oven in the garage for several tasks.

yeah....i had an old oven in the garage at my old house after my last attempt at heat treating got kaboshed by the female that lives in this house.

I used it one time.

And it sat,....
and I started piling junk on it.
And it sat....
And it was always taking up space in my little garage....

So I left it.

The fumes are gone. The pieces are heat treated, and cured.

I have successfully used a major kitchen appliance for a purpose other than what it was intended for, and lived to talk about it.

No way the fumes are gone, youre just numb to the world after smelling them. She is at least gonna think you had paint in the house, but your secret is safe with us.

Ok...I'm back.

The orange 90 isn't long for the world...ill end up replacing that thing with black...( despite the fact that I have 3 of these damn orange 90's)
Obviously, I chose not to wrap any of the hot side..it will be a pain in the ass.
Left to do:
I gotta splice the fpr back into the vacuum/boost system so the it'll start adding fuel under boost. I have to plumb in oil feed and oil drain lines... I gotta re plumb the boost duty solenoid into the Wastegate.

I gotta reconfigure the crankcase vent lines to some catch can..( I'll probably just buy one)...
i have to mount the Snow cooler activation/safety solenoid as a fail safe against accidental seepage/siphoning of the water meth into the engine...

And I gotta Hook up the BOV... to the iron lung.

Once all of those odd and ends are complete,...I have a running engine again...I'm thinkin Monday....
