The old EFi intake looked pretty much the same as the best NISMO RB26DETT intakes, but for the single 3-1/2" inch throttle body.
Just thinking out load....
Room to have two 3-1/2 by 4-1/4 by 25 inch intercoolers an one giant slot into that aquarium ITB cover?.
From my old study work with the 1981-1984 Nissan Bluebird 910 Turbo, a factory 1.8 liter car with about 150 hp that ended up making 600 hp under boost as a Group C racer car in 1984.
All it ended up using to get that was one T03 60 turbo with a T04 axle and impellor and one 3-1/2 by 4-1/4 by 25 inch intercooler and 30 psi boost.
Similar examples of the intercooler could be thin enough to lay on top of the rocker cover.
No intercooler Dean...No big boost numbers either, and it was a single 70mm tb metering that air.
The decision to go back to forced induction was purely because I inadvertently changed a fun to drive, fast car into a slow, noisy
Anemic version of itself.
Call it my inability to count past 10, call it my intolerance for boredom....but when I used to have to immediately push through first gear to keep the engine off the rev-limiter, and instead now feel like I could read a book waiting for 5k rpm to occur in 3rd gear, it's wheezer time again.
The previous turbocharger combo felt lazy in 3rd gear comparatively even while in boost, but in retrospect, at least it accelerated and pulled. i know I'm callus in this regard because I sit in 400-600 hp cars daily with 7-8 speed transmissions, and in comparison the 4R70w 3rd gear is pretty tall...and a 250 with a 37 year old head isn't exactly on par with a twin turbo'd 3L M3.
The one check and balance that I have to remember is simple...
It's a street car.
A 3rd gear pull in boost "quickly" exceeds 80-100 MPH at 12 psi. It was this logic that sold me on the premise that the opportunities to experience that only existed on an interstate on ramp, and it was one of the reasons for the turbo sell off before.
In other words...what is the point of having more power than you can realistically use in normal driving other than bragging rights?
So,..no intercooler,..only one inlet going into that air box, no more than 12-15 psi...and whatever it is, it is.
I know one thing...whatever it is..it'll be far better than it just was.
